Walking away from your house

our neighbors did the same thing. They were nice people with good jobs . Dh told me the wife told him they were moving. Well it turned out they walked away from their home. They got another house in the same town. The house they left looks horrible. It's an eyesore and dh said it affects the value of the other homes in the area. Its been almost a year and no one has been by, I dont see any notices and I'm surprised the city hasnt been snooping around. Here if you leave your car parked in the street and its dusty like you have not moved it or not workking they leave a notice on your windshield. I know these people have a pool in the backyard and we can hear LOUD frogs. I dont even want to think of the mosquitos that it will attract uugh! Who can i call to report the pool and frogs???

well the frogs are really doing anything, but if no one comes and does anything about the pool, you can buy these mosquito do-nuts from a local pest control place. Just throw a couple in the water and it will keep mosquitos from hatching.

I walked away from my house in Feb 2011. This was recommended to me by my sister who is a real estate agent and also ironically works at my mortgage company, albeit in a different division.

I walked away because I couldn't afford it, and the bank wouldn't work with me. I moved out originally in October 2009 when my Dh advised me he was divorcing me, and moved his GF in. No mortgage payments were made after I left. He spent his paycheck on fun stuff, and she refused to work and got pregnant. I was paying rent at a new place. I moved back in July 2010 when he moved out to start a family with his GF. He left it in such poor condition I couldn't keep a roommate, left behind a large electric bill, and OIL prices were ridiculous.

Bank started foreclosure process December 2009. My house was sold at auction "for costs" (WTH does that mean?) April 28, 2011.

I rent an apartment now with my BF and am working on getting back on my feet financially. That house bled me dry.

I am so glad every day That I walked away. Best decision I ever made. Now I can focus of fixing my credit to eventually live the dream... moving to Disney!
