I have a feeling that the shuttle buses will be cramp pack full after the fireworks display.

I will have a very tired 4 year old (7 hour train journey and will have been up more than 14 hours) and wondering if I would be quicker and easier walking back to the the hotel.

Staying at the Cheynee hotel, but im alone. Is the path / walkway to the hotel very lit up? Easy to find my way etc?

It's easy to find your way back to the Cheyenne from the Disney Village, just head towards the New York hotel, and it's down a pathway between the NY and the Newport Bay.

It is a bit of a walk though. We went for my niece's fourth birthday in February and she found it a struggle at the end of the day walking back, my brother in law and I took turns in carrying her. My pregnant fiancee struggled too, but we didn't carry her!

We went for 4 nights in may and walked to and from the parks every day, DS was just short of 4. I always take a buggy, even this trip to DLH. The walk to the Cheyenne was nice we didn't even try the shuttle bus.

Hope you have a nice time.

He wont go in a buggy any more... he says only babies go in prams! :confused3

I dont mind carrying him as no doubt I will be doing to be honest that late.

I just dont want to get lost or be too dark walking back on my own at 10pm or later!

you won't be the only ones walking...its well lit and safe. More people prob walk then catch the shuttle anyway. Yes its a bit of a trek with a young one and for adults to at the end of the day but its really not THAT far and you will come across the start of your resort quite quickly. Turn into it at the first chance and just walk through the resort, its lovely.:)
I must admit that I only ever took the shuttle once or twice and thought it a horrid experience, especially if you have young ones with you, that it is by far nicer to walk for an extra 15-20 mins with everybody else.

Couldn't agree more! We preferred to walk last time, not taking any chances of my pregnant fiancee being barged into/over

You can always put a request in for a room near the village, we did and stayed in Sundance, (number 10) last year, there's a path around number 11, Running Bear which takes you to the path at the side of the river, it's well lit and lots of people use it.
It was literally about 5 minutes walk following the river around the corner to the New York hotel and then another 5/10 minutes to the park gates on the downside though you're further away from reception and the facilities, but again it's only a 5 minute walk walk from one end of the hotel to the other.
This map might help you decide.

Its actually between the New York and Sequioa Lodge - Just dont want you to be confused.
Im assuming you are talking about the bonfire fireworks which Im sure are round the lake anyhow - not in the park- so you are almost back at the hotel anyhow. If you were to catch a bus you would have to walk back through the village which is as far as walking to the hotel if not further. This is also means most other people will be walking as well

We tend to avoid the scrum (aka the bus), have always found the walk to be pleasent, never had any issues.

Very well lit, as easy to follow directions!!

We always much prefer to walk back to ouhotel at night instead of taking the bus. There can be such a scrum for the bus or people hitting you in the back of yur ankles with buggys. I always prefer to walk unless it's raining and the walk seems shorter each time :)

Thanks for all your replys.

Looks like im walking after the fireworks. It will be our first time going to the hotel and after a long day, was worried about getting lost late at night!

Thanks again

Nothing worse than getting rammed in the ankles by prams!! I tend to give them "the Glare" and it usually prevents repeat occurances! lol :thumbsup2
