Walking and the Parks

Speaking of all the walking at the Dis parks, does anybody know how many miles a person walks at the parks??? Me and DH were wondering...I guess it depends on if you just skoot around, not missing a ride, or scampering around all day. I'm just thinking "on average" or even a mileage for a full circle through each park.

In one of my many guide books, I read that the average guest at WDW walks 8-10 miles a day. I'm ready!!

DH thinks that it's one mile around the World Showcase. If we are feeling up to it, we try to walk from the parking lot to the park (at any of the four parks) and back. I guess if you are staying on property and using WDW transporation you can't really do that though.

It's a lovely walk from the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian!!

I walked from the Discover parking lot at EPCOT today, in through the main gates, over to Mission Space (hoping there would be a soft opening while I strolled by but no such luck, rats!) then over through Mouse Gears, along the causeway that connects FW and WS, took a left and started at Mexico and walked to Canada. Then took the rose walk back to FW and stopped for a rest (ha ha ha!) and a small cappuccino at the Fountainview Cafe (to watch MY fountain...) Then walked out of the park and to my car. I am guestimating it was 2.5 - 3 miles total. I hope!!!

Tig, I envy you being close enough to use WDW as your walking track!! It gets a bit boring going up and down my 1/2 mile street over and over.

But at least I don't have the gerbil track!! I crack up everytime I read that!

btw, the walk from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness is lovely too. Just bring bug spray!

I put a pedometer on one trip. It logged about 12.5 miles. We park hopped that day between Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I don't really remember. I just strapped it on in the morning, and took it off before bed. So EVERYTHING was counted. I would have done more days, but alas, I dropped the darned thing in the toilet and it broke. Oops!!

My feet are always so tired each night when we get back to the hotel. I know we walk alot. This year I will really look forward to walking to help me not gain that much while I am there.

WOW!! Maybe I'll get a pedometer for our next trip! I just think it would be so interesting to see how much you walk!!!
