Just curious, do alot of people do this? I want to get a THV next April, I am in the belief (:rotfl2:) that if you call at 9am on the 11 month mark you should have good luck. Feel like it is cheating to walk it, but I also want the THV...:rolleyes1

You will be fine, no need to walk.

I have never walked a reservation, but I can honestly say that I'm never disappointed if my first choice isn't available. I have a hard time deciding on which resort will be #1 each trip! :rolleyes1

Sure hope you get a THV when you call. Keep us posted! :thumbsup2

I have seen mention of walking a reservation a couple of time but not sure what it means. Could someone enlighten me? Thanks

Here is the concept. Say you ultimately want to check in at your resort on April 1 but are afraid that if you call on May 1 previous year (11 months) that you will have trouble getting your reservation. You actually call on say April 25 previous year and make your ressie begin on March 25. The next day you call back and cancel the first night and add a night at the end. You do this each day "walking" the reservation forward until you are checking in on April 1. It is a way to get around the 11 month rule by a few days, giving you an advantage over everyone else who calls exactly at 11 months.

I think you'll be fine at the 11th month mark......we have also never "walked" a reservation and usually reserve a standard view room at BWV during food and wine

wow! you learn something new every day!

My mind would have never even considered that process but now that I know about it............;)

For what it's worth - At the 11 month window, I was able to get a 2 bedroom Boardwalk view at the BWV for the Daytona 500 week in 2/12. We check in on Wed and leave the following Tuesday. No problem getting it.
:yay:

We got a treehouse at 11 months for January during the marathon..had no trouble at all. Are you going over easter?? That would be my only concern.

I assume you are going during school vacation week? If so, we will be there then too. ;)

My daughter has gotten the THV 3 different times at the 11 month window - next trip January 2012.

Hi capecoddisneyfamily,
Sending pixie dust your way for finding the reservation you want. :wizard: THV is the only place I have not stayed and I hear it is wonderful. :)

I booked a THV this past Monday for next March. I called at the 11 month booking window at 8 am. I got my reservation. See you there.

Thank you for all the replies. We are planning for next April school vacation, it will not be Easter week like it is this year. We always go on April vacation, due to Easter we decided to go in May this year. We have always had good luck in reservations, but have never tried the THV.

We got 10 nights at the THV at Christmas. Granted I called for the first 7 nights when MS opened on the 11th month mark then each day afterward for nights 8, 9, and 10. They kept my reservation open for me so I did not have to link anything either. I would assume, if this can be done at Christmas 12/18-12/28, then it would be able to happen at Easter/Spring Break. Yes, I was a little freaked out but I was sooooo excited once I reserved all 10 nights! Wooo Hooo!

Just to save you some work... you NEVER have to call daily in this situation. For a 10 day reservation, just call ONCE on any of the third through sixth days after you made the original 7 day reservation. You are GUARANTEED to get the extra days.

(Lets say you called on January 1 and reserved seven nights, December 1-8. Nobody can stake a claim for that room until you check out - starting a new reservation on January 8 with the 11-month window. As long as you call back once between January 4-7, you cannot lose that extension.)

For us veterans, day-by-day calling was necessary at one time. It changed when they switched the 11-month window based on check-in day instead of checkout day. BTW - walking only works for the 11-month window reservations.

I could've waited until that 3rd day, but there was NO WAY I was going to run the risk of not getting my beloved THV at Christmas! Most other times at most other resorts, I would agree. Not with THV, I was not willing to take the chance, with what I read herem there are only 30 delcared in DVC inventory. I don't think OP wants to take the chance of not getting in there so that's why I think the walking question was asked. So, again, I don't think walking is necessary. I also was told my MS to make sure I called back each subsequent day to add each. They did not tell me to wait, and I would not have risked it.

That's what is great about these boards, everyone has their own opinions, and ways of doing things. That's what worked for me, and I would do it again if wanting THV's for more than 7 nights.
