Walkie/Talkies

Is it worth the trouble to take walkie/talkies. How would a child keep track of them while swimming?

I'm thinking they might be more trouble then they are worth. It will be only the two of us and I can imagine the benefits, but ...?

Any one with experience have a comment?

DH, me and 15 YO DS sailed last year on Carnival . DH and I used the walkie talkies to keep up with DS. It was a lot easier than hunting for him all over the ship! We were even surprised one time when a girl answered on his walkie! She was answering his call because they were all at the 24 hour pizza bar and he'd gone to get his 4th slice!

Yes, they did give us peace of mind.
