I was wondering if anyone can tell me about renting from Walker Mobility. I see that they have a pink princess ECV and I thought that would be fun for my mom to use. The prices seem right where everyone else is at. We are staying at the Poly and just want to make this as easy as possible to get.

This is our first time using/renting a ECV and any help would be wonderful!

Walker is highly reliable.

You may want to ask them about delivery, however. I don't think they are one of Disney's "preferred vendors", which means they cannot leave an ECV for you at the bell stand (and you can't leave the ECV at the bell stand for them to pick up). That means you have to physically meet them on each end of your trip. If that works in your trip plan, FANTASTIC. If not, you may need to rent from one of the "preferred" vendors.

See Sue's wonderful FAQ for DISABILITIES, including the post on ECV rentals, at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=595713.

I have used Walker two times a year since 2007. Excellent. Only once had an issue, the scooter wasn't charging right overnight, they were at the park with an hour, that morning, with a new charger. They will meet you @ your resort for drop off and pick up no problem. All the equipment is clean and damage free. I would recommend them!

Have rented from them 5 times with out any issues. The are great to work with and very inexpensive compared to park rentals plus you take the scooter to your room. the scooter will last the whole day on a single charge! they meet you at the time you set and same for pick up. I actually have the princess scooter reserved for sept of this year. :moped:

I've used Walker Mobility almost every time I went, about 8 or 9 times, and I've always had the ECV dropped off at the resort and they also pick it up. I've only met them once at the resort and that was the first time I ever used them because I wanted to hear from the guy how to handle it even though they leave written instructions on how to operate, dissasemble and charge it. They all, at least the ones I used, come with the basket in front which always proves very handy, and they even give you a little shower cap to cover the controls in case of rain. I've always had a rain poncho to put over it when it rains and I also always take a towel and put it on the seat to keep it from overheating. You can fold down the back of the seat to also prevent it from overheating when you have to park it somewhere. I highly recommend using them. Good luck and have a great time. :thumbsup2

I'm guessing you haven't been since Nov. 2012. That's when WDW instituted the "preferred vendors" list and only a certain few vendors are actually allowed to drop-off/pick-up with Bell Services at the resorts. Walkers is not one of these, however people have reported very good service and ease of scheduling drop-offs and pick-ups.

Agree.

Most people have not found it difficult to schedule drop off and pick up.
Walker has been a very popular off site vendor for a long time b

Where can we find this list? I have not been since 2009, so I did not see this "preferred vendors" list. Thanks for correcting that. I'd like to see this list so I can incorporate in my plans for next year. That's why I love these boards! :thumbsup2
(but I still like Walker) ;)

I have used Walker Mobility over two dozen times over the last decade or so. I rented from the twice since WDW's preferred provider was implemented.

Walker Mobility goes the extra mile for their guests to accommodate schedules, timing, etc. Last trip I called them when I arrived at the resort. I was just finished within checkin when the driver arrived with my scooter :). Upon checkout the driver and I arranged a time and location and he was waiting for me.

I would not hesitate to use Walker Mobility again.

I have rented from Walker for a long time, and still do, even if they aren't an authorized agent. Once you use them so many times, your rental price gets cheaper and they know me by name when I call. I am down to a rental price of $20 a day for the heavy duty extended range ECV.

IF I have a problem, they take care of it right away. I do have to meet them to take the ECV and to return it, but they're great and the guys are so nice. I was on crutches on our last trip and they even hooked me up with a rack to hold them on the back of the ECV for no extra charge. I have run our of juice and heir driver brought me a new battery and met us at the entrance to the park and changed it out and it was like 7pm. I broke a key off once and there was a rental on hold at the GF, I was able to get the hidden key from it and they brought a new one for the other ECV.

I even get birthday and Christmas cards from them every year. Oh, and if we have family going and another member of the group needs an ECV, they can rent it at the same price I do, as can anyone I refer.

OMG! I could have written the same report you did! Glad to know I'm not the only person who has broken off the key :). It was my fault, but when we called the young lady was very pleasant. She explained to my husband how to remove the piece and where to find the replacement key.

Wow that is really great to hear that they are wonderful to work with. I do have a question that I hope you might be able to help me understand.

I need to rent a ECV(looking at the princess :) ) The days that I asked them for was drop off Tuesday morning with a pick up of early Saturday morning(we leave that day and no park for us) They gave me a price of $145 for 5 days?:confused3 Why is it 5 not 4? I have not received an email back from them yet, but was just wondering if I can getting charged a whole day on Saturday and is the norm.

Thank you again for you feed back:goodvibes

Follow the link in my signature or look near the top of this board for the disABILITIES FAQs thread.
Post 2 of that thread is about wheelchairs, ECVs and special needs strollers.
It includes a list of off-site vendors, including the ones on the Preferred Vendor list.
They were not previously listed on the Disney website, but are now if you search for ECV or wheelchair rental.

I would call them back and ask them why you are being charged for 5 days when you will only use it for 4. I will get mine on Friday morning (they can leave it at the Marriott we are staying at the first night) and we are leaving after lunch on Monday. This includes me leaving it at the Marriott after use on Friday morning and meeting the guy again with another scooter at the WL when we get there, as we won't have room to transport it from Sea World to WL, because we have friends traveling with us.

That will cost me $80, I have been using them for awhile (Platnium member), so I get a rental for $20 a day no matter what size I need and I get the Extended Range Heavy Duty.

LOL, I thought I was the only person to do things like that. Actually, DH and the valet did it at GF (we were staying at POR and went to GF for breakfast). I forgot to take the key out before DH put the ECV in the back of our van and it hit the roof of the van and broke right off. It took us a few minutes, but I was able to get it out. There is normally an extra key taped onto the battery, but there wasn't on mine, so they had me go to bell services at GF and get one from another scooter. They were so nice about it, they always have been about any incident that I've had (not that there have been many).

Thank you for getting back to me. They did correct it and said if they pick it up before 10am we would not pay the extra day. Wow you get a great rate. That is very nice that they do that. Not sure how many times after this trip my mom will be joining us(very hard to get her to come on this one). But I thought if me and my DH can rent this for her it will really help out with all that walking. This way she won't miss a minute of her GS first trip. Hope you have a wonderful time and thank you for all the info.

to be a 4 day rental, you'd have to schedule pickup by 8:00 PM on day 4. Their drop-off/pick-up allowable times are 8-8. So whatever time you take delivery on Tuesday, it's considered day 1, with 8-8 being business hours of "the day". Wed. is day 2, Thurs is day 3 and Friday is day 4. If you want the scooter past 8:00 PM business hours/last pick-up time on Friday, then the rental rolls over to count the next day. Whether or not you're using the scooter for the full day doesn't count...just the fact you have the use of the scooter on day 5 at all means you're paying for it. In my experience, none of the scooter companies charge any partial days...you're renting for a whole day when you have the scooter for any portion. I've rented from 3 different companies in 3 cities and it was charged like that everywhere.

That's the way it was explained to me. It's still way cheaper than Disney rates...and you have the use of the scooter at your resort too...which the Disney scooters are $50 per day, in the park use only. And if you leave the park for a break, and want to go back in the evening, there is no guarantee that Disney would have a scooter in the evening, they could all be rented out already.

The reason I quit using Walker is having to schedule to be at the hotel exactly when the truck comes-and it had to be between 8 AM and 8 PM...we have annual passes so no reason to check-in at the hotel before going to parks. So a lot of times, we schedule the drop-off for 8 AM when we're expecting to get there sometime that morning (driving from Tampa area) There have been times we got hung up in traffic and got there much later than we expected to; other times we got there earlier than expected. It was so convenient to just go get the scooter at the bell counter when we got there...never any waiting or last minute calls needed to match up with driver. And leaving was even more convenient. We usually go out to dinner and stay for the Fantasmic or Wishes or whatever on our last evening...after we checked out from hotel in the morning. Last thing we do is go drop off the scooter at the bell desk of our hotel...at whatever time we want, including 11 PM at night. If we were having to match up with the driver, we would have to be back at the resort before 8:00 PM because that's the latest they would schedule when I asked. Sure we pay for having the scooter that extra night...but having the scooter means we can get the most out of our last day/last evening.

We switched to a preferred provider (Apple) because we wanted that convenience. They provide just as good a service, by the way. Choice of scooters, immediate service if there's any issues, and were actually a little cheaper than Walker.

That's not completely true. Anytime I have had to meet the driver, it was about 9am, I have never waited until evening to meet them for pickup, though. One day is from 9am to 9am the next day. Usually if you are leaving before noon you don't pay a full day. They will sometimes do a half day half price, but they have since dropped their delivery fee and their prices. It can be frustrating to have to schedule to meet the driver, but you can't beat great customer service.

I've been using Walker for 8+ years and never had a problem. Always on time, low rates and really great customer service. When Sandy hit NYC last year we had too change our travel dates around and Walker was extremely accommodating. Highly recommended.
