Can we walk to the tram office from the cruise dock? About how long of a walk is it?

Thank you!

I wouldn't since there are free shuttles that pick up/drop off where the tramway is. I want to say it's about a mile walk and it's through an industrial area.

Yes... pp is right. You can walk, but very busy street. There is a shuttle. No worries!

The Mt Roberts Tram leaves right from the area of where four - five cruise ships dock. No streets to cross. no need for a shuttle. A very short walk.

from their website, you can see the tram comes right from the cruise ship docks.

From the same area, you can get shuttles to the Mendenhall Glacier.

Hmm..unless it's changed since 2013 the close proximity is not where the Wonder docked and it indeed was a little "out there" which is why they had the free busses to transport us to and from. Probably a good idea OP to double check where the Wonder might be docking?

Good point. I was on Celebrity last summer. There were four or five ships where we were docked. Disney was not in port when we were there, so I can't answer for them.

This has a photo of the dock area.

Yep, check where you are docking. Most of the ships are very close. If it's a busy ship day, then some of the ships have to be further out and you'd be about a mile out---easily walkable if you want to and the weather is decent, but not much to see and it is a commercial area.

We walked back from there last August with 3 kids- 8 to 3.5 yrs. We wanted a little exercise to walk off all those calories we ate. You do walk through some commercial areas (shipping containers and such) but it is along the road the shuttles take until you get to the main road into town. Seemed perfectly safe. I do recall there were sidewalks for most of it. For the bit closest to town, you can walk along the water past a bunch of souvenir shops owned by one of the other cruise lines. Took us about 30 min. With the kiddos. We saw only a few other families walking.

We just sailed on the Wonder last week. We did have the shuttle bus to get from our dock to the main part of town - but it drops you off *right in front* of the tramway entrance. Easy Peasy.

It is right across the street from where other ships were docked, but when we went, the Wonder did not have one of those slips. I assumed that was the dock Disney was assigned. Disney is fairly new to Alaksa. NCL, RC ships were at those "better positioned" slips. Perhaps they do dock at one of those when available. Perhaps it is worth a call, and DCL can tell you.
