Walk through the parks with Google Street View!

I'll take a stroll and reminisce!
One thing you might enjoy is resort tv on youtube they do these "relaxing walks" where they will take a nice slow walk around certain areas, looking at various details - for example i recently watched one on the UK pavilion at world showcase. It was actually really nice, only a small amount of commentary and they sometimes point out little areas or details that you might miss just walking around. All in 4K video so it is super clear.

Oh the things we do to feel the magic when we are not there.

Oh man! I have to try this in my Oculus tonight!

(I've already spent plenty of time flying over the World in VR, walking through it can only be better.)

I was thinking recently, I would love to get one of those 360 4K VR Cameras, mount it to a helmet like a Go Pro and take it on some rides. Then, I could VR my favorite rides any time I have some free time. I looked on YouTube and there are already some 360 Degree Ride Videos out there.

I considered doing this myself, I'm a big fan of those videos but unfortunately given the current state of the technology it's very difficult to get a high quality video image in 360, even with 4K. That resolution isn't really that much once stretched over the field of view of one of these videos. I have hopes for the near future though!

I was wondering when it would show up. We were there the day they were doing Epcot (2/16/16). That backpack looked heavy and uncomfortable!

Getting to be about the only way I'll be able to afford to see Disney.

Special for kids -- and importantly parents of kids -- now you can get designs on visiting Disney -- and without dropping a small fortune in the process -- thanks to Google Maps after it added Street View images for 11 Disney Parks.

The feature looks to cover parks in the U.S. only at this point, but that alone might help you relive a recent visit, or else familiarize yourself for the first/next one.

It's been interesting to watch Google Maps develop into a tool for tourism. Particularly in Asia, governments and tourism boards have worked with Google to help bring popular destination and cultural landmarks onto the service. That's in contrast to the West, where Maps had been seen as a service that poses significant privacy concerns -- remember back in 2010 when Google sucked up personal data via its Street View cars?

Disney might not be a world wonder or cultural hotspot, but it definitely makes sense for the parks to have a more visual presence on Google Maps, and so here we are.

Don't worry, trusted sources close to TechCrunch's Matthew Panzarino have assured me that he will continue to make his annual visit to Disneyland to test Apple's newest iPhone in real-world conditions despite this new tie-up with Google. Some things just can't be digitized.

I tried this last night, it's fun! Some of the imagery is older than I expected, but still fun. I was disappointed that I couldn't enter any buildings really, and that some of the smaller paths in Epcot aren't fleshed out. I might have to make a list of spots to add photos to when I am down there again!

Seeing it in VR and 'walking' the parks was excellent though, get to practice my memory of routes.

Each time you want to navigate down a street or path, each click of the arrow advances you about 3 feet’and then wait for the image to load , is there a way to advance faster ?

It may be your internet connection, what sort of speed do you have? A lot of these are high resolution images and can only load so quickly.

Nah not that , it’s just annoying That you can’t just leap ahead like you would a virtual tour , if I wanted to advance from jungle cruise to haunted mansion it would take like 200 clicks of the arrow , I’m probably missing something
