I am new. You all seem so nice. I am hoping to get some support.

I have been training for the tinkerbell half. Everything has gone great!

I am 8 weeks pregnant. I went for my final OB appt. today and was told I can only walk the race (or sign up for a shorter race- which of course can't happen)

Is anyone else walking? I am allowed to run walk a little.

Has anyone successfully walked the half without getting an invitation to ride the bus?

I was really expecting my OB to say I was good to go. But I want to follow the instructions and stay safe.

Congrats on the baby!

You should be fine walking, a lot of people walk the Disney races. The time limit is a 16min/mile and the timing starts as the last person crosses the start line of the last corral. If you get as close to the front of your corral, it will just add on extra time for you. Also, I think once you get to mile 10.5/11, you're fine and they'll let you finish the race. You'll be fine! :goodvibes

Also, we have a thread for the race you can hop in a talk about everything and all the excitement if you'd like. Here's the link ~ http://disboards.com/threads/2015-tinker-bell-half-marathon-weekend-check-in-may-7-10-2015.3308597/

I'm in the same situation, but signed up for the Disneyland 10k in September. My midwife said I could keep training, but not to exert myself so much that I'm out of breath and to be extra careful to stay hydrated. How's your pacing? If you can maintain a 16min/mile pace, you should be fine, but I think I would mentally prepare myself for being picked up by the bus. :grouphug:

I have friends who walk all the races. And the "Balloon Ladies" walk it. It is a 16 min pace walk.

I have no idea what my walking pace is! I feel like it is s-l-o-w. I am going to go for a long walk today and see here the numbers fall. I thought (until I was benched) that I would run walk about 12 min/mile! Hopefully the training translates!

I'm sure the training will translate because what you feel is slow walking now would probably seem like speed walking to the average person since your sense of pace does change. There are a number of people who walk the whole thing and still complete it (if you google Tinkerbell Half race reports, there should be a couple that come up from people who walked it). Just set yourself a pace of a 15:30-minute mile, and I'm sure you'll be fine.
