Is it possible to walk from DTD Marketplace to Crossroads Shopping Center, how far is it and is there a proper pathway for pedestrians? Is it simpler to get a cab and how much would this be?

Personally I would rather get a cab!!!

It is walkable, but nobody walks anywhere in florida!!!, not unless you have a death wish, and plenty of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Just not worth it IMHO.

From DTD it is a good 20-25 minute walk, all pavement, past the DTD hotels, so plenty to look in;)

But when you get down the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd, you've got the mother of all zebra crossings to get over . . . there's just about enough time if you run:rolleyes:

We walked from the Grosvenor hotel, at the top end of Hotel Plaza, and it was fine, in fact nice to get out in the cooler evening air.

We walked many times from the Courtyard at DD which is on Hotel Plaza Boulevard. As Mrs Dazzle has said, it is a pleasant walk with pavement all the way. I personally wouldn't consider a cab. JMHO

I'd put it closer to 10-15 minutes walk at a reasonable pace. I've done this a few times and there are sidewalk it is a pleasant walk in cooler weather. It can be a bit sticky in July, August, Sept and getting across the pedestrian crossing at Crossroads can be a bit hairy. They don't give you a lot of time on green either so you need to be pretty sprightly.
Unless you're planning on carting back heavy stuff like a couple of cases of beer or gallons of drinking water I wouldn't bother with a cab.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree a few years ago which is a 5 minute walk from the Crossroads. However the main road we had to cross was terrifying particularly as we had a toddler in a pushchair. We walked it a couple of times then we started paying the $5 taxi fare for peace of mind.

Yup! I think we did it in about 20 minutes - I agree with Vernon though, the weather makes a difference...when it's very hot and humid, this can prove to be a bigger trek than you might otherwise think.

As for crossing the road - you know, I've never seen the big problem with this (maybe because I'm always dodging thru traffic in central london?) - basically, their crossings are different, the green man indicates you can start crossing, the flashing green man means it's ok for you to still be on your way but shouldn't start, not that you should be reaching the otherside already! I've never had a problem getting across and really... the drivers are all so much nicer over there, even if you haven't quite made it in time they will wait for you, they won't run you down ;)

The problem then is Penny that even though the lights are on Red the traffic is still allowed to turn right which makes it very confusing.

They can only turn right if it's clear and that includes pedestrians...you have right of way but if you stand and wait, they will keep turning, however if you just have the confidence of your convictions to walk... they do stop, honest! Well, that's to say I've not been run over yet, hehehe.

Hi guys,

Daft question....where is Crossroads, is it on the 192 somewhere ?

Mike

Mike it's about a mile from Down Town Disney. It's the crossroads of the SR 535 and the road into Disney ( I think Buenna Vista Drive). It's also close to the junction of I4 .
