over the years i have become that type of rider....and by walk on i mean 15 minutes or less which usually is less than 10. i dont need to stand and wait anymore. some days we ride nothing at all or do an A ticket day on teacups, carousel, COP etc. I used to think smelling the roses at about 65 bucks a day was a waste but now it is a pleasure. so my question is.................are there a lot of us that have become strolling guests or am i in a minority?????

We're a little bit of both.

We generally don't make FPs in advance because we don't plan out where we'll be each day in advance. What we have done is the night before, once we know where we're going the next day, I'll book 3 FPs. Sometimes we use all 3, sometimes not, depending on how the day goes.

Certain rides, like Test Track and Everest, we plan to do single rider. We've never had any trouble walking on that way with little to no wait, so we don't waste FPs on those rides. We'll do standby occasionally if the wait is reasonable - 15-20 minutes. Otherwise, we just enjoy being there, browse the shops, see a parade or show, have something to eat, etc.

Last November, DW and I went without DD for the first time in 17 years and we were definitely less ride focused on that trip than when we go with her, so that plays into it too.

Well we are probably the minority but that only means there is 1% more people that aren't doing this than are :) There is a lot of people around any park on any day that is doing this. To a degree, if you listen to what people love at epcot, it's not running around future world, it's strolling around world showcase that they like and this is basically what I call smelling the roses and looking up at any other park.

Disney is really different when you stop making "this park" as the goal. "this park" is where you are going.. Pick something sane for what your goal is while in "this park" and then just take it in, smell the roses, look up, watch someone nearby discover the place for the first time and live through their description to family of what they are feeling and seeing. Window shop more, there's some interesting merch but in addition, the theming int he shops is something you probably skipped. Can you describe the ceiling in Memento Mori? Do you know what color the carpet is in philharmagic? Do you know what the fake newspaper next to people mover says?

Everyone should find a couple hours to just walk around magic kingdom with no goal except to look around at everything. It'll change your disney experience for the better... a great time to do this is on travel day.. If you have 3-4 hours and can afford the extra day on the ticket. Go to magic kingdom and the goal is doing a "we made it" circle around the park.

I have to say that back when I was blessed to be able to go every year (sometimes SUPER lucky, and got to go twice in a year!), I got to be "picky" about what I would/wouldn't wait for, and also became a huge fan of "noticing the small things, and taking it all in" as opposed to just running from ride to ride. My thought always was "I'll just do it next time". Unfortunately, it hasn't been "next time" for too long now, but I'm always hopeful.

I am a stroller and do the same thing. But for the first time in 6 years, my wife has pulled out the trusty spreadsheet for our trip in a few weeks.

I don't mind waiting in line 60 minutes. I enjoy a lot of the queues. I also don't get to have long trips at all, and I think that makes a big difference. This upcoming trip I only get 2 park days.
