I know there are a lot of threads on this already and I have read blog articles on it too. Maybe I'm just dense. :confused3

Can someone talk me through a split stay with dining and tickets?

My fiance and I are talking about a Disneymoon. We would like to stay at Poly for 3 nights and CSR 7 nights. We would like to do DxDDP the first part and regular DDP the second part. I understand that Disney views these as two different stays and you need to buy at least one ticket on the second stay to do dining.

So my questions:
1. I've read to just buy the whole stay's tickets on the first reservation. So a 10 day ticket on Poly (or do I get a 9 day and a 1 day?). But how do I use the remaining tickets on my CSR booking? Do I have to go to the desk and get them transferred or do I need to keep both cards on me the second part of the trip?
2. They say to buy just one ticket on the second stay and you can upgrade it on another trip. Is that something that is for the room only scenario or can I still get a physical ticket in hand if it's booked as a package?
3. Just to be sure, the morning I check out I have until midnight to use any credits from the first stay and the second stay's credits kick in the same day?
4. One last question... how do flights and DME work with all this?

I hope this makes sense! It doesn't for me :rotfl: Maybe someone could just tell me step by step what to do and how to book it so it smoothly transitions and we don't waste too much money.

Sorry i cant really help you but i would love to hear the comments as DH wants to stay at poly and i want to stay at wilderness lodge abd i was thinking of splitting the trip and going to both. Hope you.get your answer! Happy wedding and disneymoon to you!

I can't really help either (even though I'm a Split Stay aficionado) ... We are AP holders so tickets are never an issue and we always take the room discounts over other promotions ("Free Dining").
I just wanted to say that Split Stays are fun because its like multiple vacations in one :thumbsup2

I will try and help (with what we are doing) and I will start with this will not work for everyone so please understand it might not be the best for you.

We are checking into the CR for 3 nights. We have free dining and have 6 days PH (might add a 7th day down there) and I did this so I can put it all on my Disney Chase for the points/no interest for the trip.

After 3 days we are moving over to the BC, again on Free Dining but we have 1 day base tickets there. We also have DxDP upgrade (surprise to my family). We will use the original tickets the whole trip and save the 1 day tickets for our trip next year when we are staying on DVC points so we won't qualify for free dining. On that trip we will upgrade the tickets to when we need. It works for us because we have another trip planned that will not qualify for free dining. This won't work for everyone.

And yes, you can do your credits like you mentioned, just remember to keep straight what card has what and to not use the second keys to enter the parks otherwise it will waste the tickets on there (we are going to try and get them removed when we check in)

For DME, we have from MCO to CR and then from BC to MCO booked. When I made the reservations Disney took care of linking the reservations and setting up the 1 way on DME for each part of the stay.

Hope this helps

Though we do split stays you will be homeless for part of the day. We never use up all the credits on the DDP so the deluxe would be over kill for us. Have you considered dropping the deluxe and staying at the Poly for the whole stay. This way you would also not need to buy the second set of tickets.

Have you considered annual passes. You will get a better room rate, and you can add the ddp to each package.

It definitely does! Thanks for your help! Boo to having to keep them cards straight but there are worse things..

Denise, you make a good point about DxDDP. We're going in July so table service meals in the middle of the day would be a great break from the crowds and heat. Plus, we're looking to check out at least two signature restaurants so we figured we would do deluxe for just the three days to get that out of the way. I'm still on the fence about staying at Poly the whole time. Price per night plus what I'm hearing about it needing updating makes me wary of having our whole vacation there.

Honestly, I've heard of people getting them for 11+ day stays but for some reason I didn't think about them for this stay. Are the room rates and option of adding DDP on available all the time or are they seasonal like the regular offers? This may definitely be an option!

Sorry but I'm confused by the "one day" base ticket for your second FD stay. Do you have a PIN for that FD part of that stay? Because the current FD offer says you must purchase a minimum two day base ticket to get FD, so I just want to keep this straight in my mind (which seems to be only half there sometimes )
