Walk Me Through Creating a Personal Avatar

I know this question has probably been asked a hundred times so I guess this will make one hundred and one. Someone please walk me through the steps of creating a personal avatar. I have numerous softwares for sizing pictures, Adobe, Printmaster, etc., so first of all, what size does the picture need to be? Second, if I understand correctly, the picture has to be uploaded to a website and then a link created to "catch" it. If that is not correct, please correct me. Now the next question, is there a website I can upload to once I size my avatar and how do I do that? And one final question, can the signature be done the same way? Thanks for all the help ! !

I think an avatar has to be 50x50 pixels. For avatars, you don't need a website, you can just upload onto the DIS. In your personal options tab in our user cp, there should be a place to upload your own avatar. Signature pictures do need a website, however. There are many free website places out there. My favorite's are the DIS member pages, which are accesible from the main page, and worlzone.net. Worldzone offers 50MB of free space, but because of a server move they aren't accepting any new members until Monday, so you'd have to wait. Hope I helped some, if not, I'm sure someone can.

Congratulations! I don't think it really matters what format it's in, but a jpeg would probably be the smallest file size. If you need any more help feel free to post.

Is webnow2000 one of the places you can use for your web page. I don't know that I would get much use out of my own web site, are there sites you can just upload your file to link to? Does DIS have a site for this? Thanks ! !

Yes, Adventure, The DIS is a great place to store your signature clipart. We have detailed instructions already that should tell you everyrthing you need to know about creating a signature and storing it on a DIS website. Just click on the Mickeys in my signature.

A lot of the techies are on vacation this weekend, so we may be a bit slower that usual, but we'll be around to help if you have any questions.

O.K., one more quick question, how wide can the picture in a signature be, or better yet, how wide should it be?

It can be up to 200 pixels in either direction and should be under 30K bytes.

That's a beautiful picture.

You may get a pm from a mod about your clipart being too big. It's 400 pixels wide. We normally only allow 200 pixels wide, but we do allow 2 cliparts. Since you only have one, which could be considered 2 200 pixel pieces, you may be ok. We try to be flexible.

Does that make any sense at all?
