We are staying at AKL 25 Aug - 01 Sep 2009, and I probably won't book many ADRs because we are not likely to want table service meals all the time, but I was wondering how easy it is to get breakfast at Boma? As we are staying at the hotel, do we get any priority? I would hate to get up for breakfast and then find we can't eat in our own hotel.

I was there in October. Because we were staying there we went to the concierge and they had a few ADRS for those in the Lodge. Just go to the concierge first. I did it the evening before but imagine there would be a few left.

Make an adr and cancel if you don't want it....it doesn't matter if you are a guest of the hotel or not.If they are booked they are booked.Boma is a popular place, and if free dining happens to be going on then ( which it probably will be) finding walk ups is going to be more difficult than usual.

I had exactly the same thoughts when we were staying there, we stayed there for 21 nights and had breakfast there about 10 times and we didn't make ADR's for all of them and got a table every time we walked up there for breakfast. If you did find yourself in the situation were there were no tables, then you can go to Mara, the CS at AKL. Their breakfast is not bad (not as good as Boma, but not bad).

They have a great breakfast, but don't count on eating there just because you are staying at the hotel, that doesn't work.

Make a reservation for every morning...cancel if you aren't going.

The breakfast is wonderful.

We are staying the same time as you 24th August - 3rd September and are on the free dining - we are making all our ADRs and Boma breakfast is one of them - I dont think it is a good idea to go by chance - especially if you definitely want to eat there - you might be disappointed

We stayed @ AKL in September and decided we wanted to try Boma for breakfast after we had arrived. We attempted to get reservations for early in the morning and they didn't have anything available. However, they did say try and go down at at the opening and you might get in. We went down and were able to get in fairly quickly and it was great.

Boma was really busy when we went for BF. People were being turned away at the door. I would definitely make a reservation and then decide if you want to cancel while you are there. The juice is fabulous by the way!

How I wish we were going to Disney as early as all of you here, but still we are in process of planning. Maybe we will have our trip on December, I'm excited and little bit crazy. :rotfl: But we can change our minds every now and then.:rotfl:

Have a safe trip everyone. :)

We were unable to walk in though we were guests at AKL - and that was pre-DDP and certainly not during free dining (it was the second week of December). I wouldn't chance it myself.

This would have been my suggestion. I would have gone to the front desk concierge during my stay to inquire about the following morning.

We loved our breakfasts at BOMA. Four years ago we had no trouble doing a walk in. Maybe I'm getting more cautious in my old age ... but an ADR is always a good thing.

And you must go to Boma for the buffet dinner. The first nite we did it because the 4 year old DGS and his neice had no energy to leave the hotel. We liked it so much we went back for dinner 2 nites later. Have fun ... we and the kids loved AKL.

Things do happen to schedules once you get there. We had a reservation for breakfast there on the second to last morning of our trip. We were staying at AKL and I thought the breakfast would work better for my family than dinner. But I didn't plan very well and booked it the morning after being at the Christmas party until closing and there was no way I could get the kids up for an early breakfast, even if we were staying there, so we just didn't show up and ate at Mara instead.

I do wish we had eaten there as itlooked like a very nice place and was always busy all the times we passed it but when I didn't book it for dinner on our first night there just wasn't any other times to try it.
