Walk from Epcot

Walking is our perferred transportation method ;)

We originally were going to rent a car but now we think we won't so I was looking at the transportation wizard on how to get to Fantasia Gardens mini-golf course from Poly and basically we end up being dropped off at the Swan Hotel and then walk to Fantasia.

No problem, but is it possible to walk from Epcot to the Swan Hotel thus avoiding a bus all together? I ask only because I know the Swan is considered an Epcot resort, right? Or am I completely wrong about where it's located and therefore it's a really stupid question to even consider walking?

Thanks for any help!

You can walk BUT you have to walk through EPCOT, admission required. Not a problem if you have an AP, a hopper pass or otherwise will be visiting EPCOT.

An alternate suggestion is take a bus to the Disney-MGM studios and then walk, or take the boat to S/D. The walk will be shorter and you won't need park admission.

Yes, it is a nice walk from Epcot over to the Swan and the Dolphin, I would say that it would take about 15-20 minutes from the International Gateway over to the Swan

Thanks, helenk and lewisc for the speedy answers. We'll have hoppers so admission is not a big deal, but I didn't even think about having to walk through Epcot first to get to the gateway. It might just be less trouble to deal with the bus :) Thanks again!

It's not quite that far to the Swan - about 20 minutes to MGM, the Swan is much closer - maybe 10 - 12 minutes.

I'm building a site of Disney walks (I started with the Boardwalk, and also did MGM to Epcot). The MGM to Epcot walk is at the bottom of this page http://www.denisesfitnessblog.com/disney/

The Boardwalk walk is at the bottom of this page:

You just click on the links. We'll have a better website setup soon, it's confusing now that there are 2 pages.

I also timed some of the walks. The walk from the start of the walkway at MGM, to the Boardwalk, around the Boardwalk and to Fantasia Gardens took me about 35 minutes. I walk at approx. a 3mph pace (and I've done the BW walk hundreds of times, I used to live 10 minutes from it!) Now I'm 40 minutes away.

If you take the bus all the way to the Swan, that is a minimum of two buses. By far the best way from the Poly is to take a bus to the Studios, then walk or boat to the Swan.

Oh - yes, I agree! I'd not noticed the Poly to Epcot and then FG. The walk from MGM is much shorter than from the bus stop at Epcot. Only 10 - 12 or so minutes from MGM to the Swan.

About 5 or less minutes to Fantasia Gardens from there (a REALLY fun course).

Last trip, just for a change of scenery, I walked MGM to Swan on the Swan side of the canal. Leave MGM on the Boardwalk path as usual, then take a path to the right just past the road bridge, near the Boardwalk tennis courts, then right again along the road sidewalk, then right again and follow the path on the other side of the canal, which runs all the way down to the Swan. The path goes along the back of the Swan parking lots, past the Swan bus stop, through the Swan outdoor reception area and comes out near the bridge between the Swan and Boardwalk.

It's a longer walk... but more shade on a hot day... and a change of scenery.

Hi Andrew! In as many times as I've walked the BW, I've not done that. I am trying to think of where you went - over the overpass?

I used to think I knew everywhere to walk - but it's cool, I keep learning new ones! I've seen what looks like a path on the other side, but not the whole way, close to the Swan. I haven't been over there that I can remember.

Yes.

Buena Vista Drive has a sidewalk on the Boardwalk/Epcot side all the way from Epcot Resorts Blvd (both ends) to a point opposite CBR (near the 'Lego' firehouse') The paths from Boardwalk and Swan both link to this sidewalk. If you have a map of any of the Bay Lake resorts, look for the paths marked as jogging trails.

The Swan path only goes as far as Buena Vista Drive.

Going from the Polynesian to Fantasia Gardens I would most likely take the boat over to MK and then hop on the S/D bus. Or take the monorail to MK...whichever you choose. Less walking involved, and might actually be quicker.

Thanks, when I have a chance I'll check that one out and maybe add it to my walking site. But I have like 2 months filled with others (including Disneyland Paris) before that! I had a S/D jogging map, I haven't even looked at it because I thought I knew everywhere to go. :)

I think (especially since the OP said that walking is their favorite mode of transporation) that the MGM bus will be quicker, along with the relatively short walk instead of a boat/monorail to the MK. It shouldn't take longer, anyway.

I'm thinking we'll go ahead and take the one bus to MGM and then walk to Fantasia Gardens. I was really hoping for monorail to Epcot, then walk from there, but with the added hassle of going through Epcot to get to the International Gateway, I'm not sure it would be worth avoiding a bus.

Thanks for all the help in getting our route down :) Now if we could just walk from Fantasia Gardens to Downtown Disney we'd be set, lol.
