Anyone know how far and if safe. I'm assuming you'd take the crosswalk by Disney Marketplace, right? I'm about to book a save my sanity solo trip for early Sept and the $39 rates are calling my name. I'd like to know I can bus to the Marketplace from the parks, then eat and shop and walk to the hotel. Never stayed at any of the DTD hotels so have no idea exactly where the Courtyard is. Wish the AP rates would come out and I could snag a super cheap rate at one of the All-Stars but guess its not gonna happen.

Any feedback on the Courtyard would be very much appreciated.

I don;t knwo how far it is since I've only been to Disney once (waaay back in 1982!), but I do know that they no longer run busses directly from the parks to DTD. You will have to take a bus to a resort and transfer to a DTD bus.

Just wanted to make sure you knew so you can factor in the extra time!

Have fun! I'll be there in October for my second trip :p .

We usually stay in the DTD Disney area. Yes, you can walk there...it's not THAT far. You should also know the Courtyard has shuttles, but I never stayed there so I don't know if they would shuttle you to DTD. Worst case scenerio, if you decide it IS too far to walk you can take a cab. Probably only $3 or so.

We have stayed there a couple of times and yes, you can walk to DTD. They also have shuttles to all the parks and the DTD area. It's probably about a 15 mnute walk depending on how fast you are. We usually drove our car there and parked for free. Then, at the end of the night would just come back to our car from the Disney buses and drove back to the hotel (outside parking anyway at the Marriott). It's a clean, pretty nice hotel and you will be fine there.

we stayed last sept. on the $20.02 deal. It was great for the money, nice hotel, nice rooms and free beer/wine nachos/popcorn about 4-5 p.m. in the lobby. We walked to dtd with no problem, we followed the walks and crossed at the interection about 10 minutes.

I stayed there last April and walked to DTD several times. It took about 10-15 minutes each way. With all the road and foot traffic, it's a pretty safe walk.

I appreciate the info. I'm now traveling with a friend who hasn't been to Disney for a long time. I'm going to let her choose between staying in two rooms at Courtyard DTD or sharing a room at one of the All-Stars. I'm voting for Courtyard as I'm up to try something new and I can use all the Marriott points I can get so we can have free stays on a planned drive down to WDW next summer.

I collect Marriott points too - in fact I hope to have enough points soon to redeem a 5 day adult hopper for a trip in December. Good luck on your trip!

NotTooGoofy, I am so impressed. A five day park hopper must have cost a ton of points! I'll be happy if I can get a free room one night on the way down and one on the way back next summer. I'm nearly there now. I'm going to have to set my sights higher!

Thanks everyone for your advice and good wishes. I just made ressies at the Courtyard DTD for $39 a night. Not $20.02 but still very good. I can't believe it, I'm headed to Disney World again! Now I have to settle on a cheap way to get back and forth from the airport. I'm thinking Mears strictly to save moolah. The Lynx bus is doable but sounds like it would eat up quite a lot of time.

I just got back frommy 1st trip to DtD Courtyard by Marriott hotel and I had a wonderful time.

The distance from the CbM hotel to the corner of the Hotel Plaza road and the crosswalk of Buena Vista road is one third of a mile by car.

Both sides of the sidewalks are curved, away from the road, surronded by beautiful trees.

I'll post more later this week after I finish my work stretch.

I think that you might like to walk down the more tree lined, right side during the sunny days, but you will love the walk at night by the lake at night on the left side. You will love it. It is beautiful. And very relaxing.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

crazyforgoofy, I'm glad you asked this question. I've never stayed off site and will tell people that staying on site is the way to go. But I have often wondered how convenient it was to stay at the Courtyard. The low prices sure are tempting and while it may be a long time before I get to go to WDW again, its nice to hear that staying there might not be too bad at all.

Be sure an post your trip report when you come back. I'd like to hear about your experience staying there.

I can't wait for this budget trip with my new and dear friend, Nancy, who also happens to be my son's new mother-in-law. My family budget is fixed - my hubby is a disabled vietnam vet - plus we have a recent addition to our family, Isabella, who is five. I love staying on property but I can't justify spending a lot of moolah on a trip without my dears. So the Courtyard DTD, cheap airfare from SWA, SOG tickets, Mears transportation, and I'm thrilled! I hope not to have to spend $$ on cabs, etc. Nancy and I are both good walkers so we're pretty happy with our choice especially after the good recommendations I found here!

I hope you can get to WDW again soon.

Hi all

I read a post below about $39 rates for the DTD Courtyard Marriott.Does anyone know what dates these rates are good for ? We will be coming to Disney in either late Oct or early Nov, so we miss the qualifying dates for the $20.03 rates. However , $39 sounds just as good !!
If anyone knows of any good deals during that time , I would really appreciate hearing about them..

Thanks again to this very helpful board.

Leslie

I found mine through this board. I clicked the Dreams Unlimited ad and then found the special for the Courtyard by Marriott DTD. Hope you can find it too. I know its only good for weeknights, not on friday-saturday nights. Don't know the date limitations, though.

You can walk to the DTD area in about 10 minutes, and it's only about 15 to the Crossroads area if you need something from Goodings (despite the prices--DH bought beer there). When returning from the parks we got off at the Doubletree, and just walked the rest of the way. Crossroads also has some restaurants others have recommended -- Pebbles and Jungle Jims. We personally have never eaten at these, but it's definitely a doable walk.
