Hey I was just wondering if anyone else on here has done a walk for a cure before ? If so for what ? How did it go ? Did you raise a lot of money ?

My friends and I have signed up for walk for the cure for aids october 15 and i have raised an ok about i have not hit my goal of 250 dollars yet, which kinda sucks and then in november 5 we are doing a walk for the heart assoc. and i have not started trying to collect for that one which is 500 dollars.. i sure hope i can get it all...

just wondering if you guys went and if it was fun. :grouphug:

wow no one huh ? i was trying not to let this get on the 2nd page because i was just trying to figure out.. kinda what to expect... this is my first one

I did a 3 day 60 mile walk for breast cancer a few years back (crewed another) and raised around $3k. A lot depends on the "scope" of your walk--is it a mile, 5k...what?

I've never done one,but as someone living with AIDS,I'd like to say thanks

the first one is only 3 miles and the second one is only 15 miles. I wanted to sign up for the breast cancer one... but it was a little to late and i need to raise a min of 3k and it was a 500 register fee.......

we are also looking into a couple of more.

I would like to do the breast cancer walk this year. I had a friend who was a breast cancer survivor. She had a double mastectomy 6 years ago and was cancer free. She was killed in a very tragic car accident last summer. We walked in her memory last year so I would like to do it again this year.

I've done the breast cancer walks before, with a group of friends, especially one of my best friends who is a b.c. survivor.

I didn't have to raise money ahead of time, just registered, paid my $25 (or whatever) and walked. It was amazing to be with such a huge group of people all walking for such a good cause. :sunny:

I did the walk for March of Dimes... had a ball. Only knew about it for a week before and still raised 300.00. Would like to do a breast cancer one.. and looking foward to next years March of Dimes.

We did a walk for MS in the spring, we were walking for my 30 yr. old brother. Between my 4 kids (ages 7, 9 17 and 19 at the time) and myself we raised $1600---there were 9 of us on the team and we raised over $6500.
It was a 10 km walk, we had a a lot of fun.

Hi Goofinoff! If you are not going to be at the Animal Kingdom on the 7th, they are having one in Boston on the 15th. I would check to see if they will be doing one in or near Portland as well! ~Monique

I did the Relay For Life for 4 years. Over the 4 year time period, we raised about $10,000. It was alot of fun.

I've been involved in the AIDS LifeWalk here in Dallas since 2000. We do not ask participants to raise a specific amount of money, but you must raise at least $25 to get a T-shirt. :)

2 years ago DS raised $400. He sent e-mails to everyone we know and asked them to donate. Our walk has a link where you can set up your own personal fundraising website for free, and people can donate by credit card. DH's company also does matching grants, so all of the money we give is matched dollar for dollar. Our walk is next Sunday. I have not been very involved this year, but I do hope DS and I can make it to the walk to see our friends and support the cause.

Good luck in meeting your goals! Don't worry about being able to walk 5K. It is not bad at all!
