I had 2 DVC reservations for this weekend, and family told me that they no longer needed Friday, October 6. I dropped October 6, and was hoping to pick it up as a single day for a friend, but my reservation disappeared into a dark hole.

My reservation was 4 days away, so I thought waitlists expired 7 or 31 days before, and no one could waitlist October 6 at this point. This is for Aulani so I doubt anyone is just dropping by. Where did the room go??! It was not available to book 20 seconds after I dropped it. Lol. It’s not a big deal because I was going to give the night away, but I’m bummed we can’t ask our friends to meet us there on Friday.

You are right that waitlists expire either 31 days prior to check or 7 days <-- depending on what you select.

I assume that since the night just disappeared because Disney took it. 60 days are less out Disney can sell unbooked nights for cash.

I should have come here to ask for advice first! I had no idea that Disney could take a DVC room for a cash booking. That makes sense though. I thought I was being clever making the change after all waitlists expired in the middle of the night.

The room disappeared so quickly, and there is not another night available in any category on that day. It was a reservation for 2 people, so in highsight I should have just added my friend's 2 names to the reservation and they could have played all day, but not spent the night.

If you already have a waitlist (for two nights after your reservation) but you later book the nights at a different resort, can you call or chat with member services and get them to add to your waitlist that you want the other reservation cancelled and the points used from there? Or are you stuck creating a new waitlist and losing your place in line? Thanks!

AFAIK, you would need to create a new waitlist. I'm not 100% sure, though, so it wouldn't hurt to call.

I went on chat and was told that they could add notes to the waitlist to cancel the other reservation and use the points (using the reservation number) if my waitlist comes through. Hopefully I get the same answer when I return to chat after making the alternative reservation.

You can have them add the note to replace the new reservation
