Waitlisting BWV for Oct - looking for opinions

Looking for opinions on waitlisting BWV during F&WF. We've never tried to get BWV during Oct and I know it's usually tough to get so I'm not sure what we should do.

We are currently waitlisted for a 1-bdrm, standard view for the entire week of 10/16-10/22. I could have booked all nights except 10/18 & 10/20, but don't want to chance having to move resorts, possibly twice (especially while traveling with a 3 yr old). Should I have booked what I could get and waitlisted those 2 nights? What do you think the chances are that both nights would come through?

Though we were looking for a standard view (for access to the parking lot), I could have booked all but the night of 10/20 in a pool/garden view. Should I have booked the pool/garden view, requesting close to tennis courts (parking lot) & waitlisted that one night?

We're currently booked at SSR & wouldn't mind spending the extra points for the pool/garden view if needed.

Wondering what those of you with experience with BWV would do...

One night is more likely to come through. There are plenty of pool/garden views near the steps exit that would lead you to the parking lot. If you really want to try BWV, I would go with that one night waitlist, and make the request. We've had standard views down the hall, and if we were too high, DH would drop me off /pick me up at the lobby. It's harder for me to do steps than walk the long hallways.

I think waitlisting for SV for the whole week is unlikely to come through. Just guessing, of course! You may be very lucky.

I definitely would've book the pool/garden view. The chances of it being available or a waitlist coming through are very good. According to the boards here, SV is only 20% of the resort, while pool/garden view is 60% of the resort. I have to book for my DD and family next week and am hoping for a pool/garden view, but will waitlist if I have to. BTW -- getting standard for an entire week during F&W is a very rare thing. Other times of the year is possible, but most BWV owners like myself, bought at BWV just for the standard rooms during F&W.

If you really want to move from SSR TO BWV, book what they have. That is a real busy time for them.

Thanks everyone! I was leaning towards booking what I could with the preferred view and only waitlisting one night and after reading your repsonses, that's what I did. I was able to book a 1 -bdrm, preferred view for the nights of 10/16-10/19! We are waitlisted for 10/20. I have to call back on 3/21 to book 10/21.

Hoping it's still available when I call back!

Good luck! I think you did the best thing possible. Of course if you're like me, whenever I waitlist, I find myself checking online 2-3 times a day and it drives me nuts! As soon as I forget about it, it seems to come through....so forget about it and maybe you'll get lucky.

I wouldn't be surprised that your waitlist comes through pretty quickly since it's right at the 7 month mark. It seems that first week of the seven month mark many wait lists come through. It's probably something to do with BWV people switching from BWV to other DVC resorts. We had two waitlists come through for BWVs for October 2010 in that manner both within days of making the reservation. Good luck!

I agree. I just cancelled a bwv standard studio at my 7 month mark to book Kidani... DD's birthday so her choice I know I'm going to make someone very happy!

Wondering about this myself. I am booking the last weekend of F&W to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy as I just heard they will be there. But I am torn between just booking now with my BCV points or waiting until the 7 months (April) to try for Boardwalk standard to save a few points. Fallback resort would be OKW, which I shouldnt have a problem getting. Don't want to change from BCV to BWV standard because I am borrowing the points.

I don't want the pool/garden, just standard, if I'm going pool/garden I might as well just book BCV now.

I am in the same situationas Debbie Jean. I will be calling on monday March 21st trying to get into Aulani. If I am able to secure a room, I will make someone very happy as I be cancelling my BWV one bedroom standard view for October 15th -22nd.

I was able to get the night of 10/21 but am still waitlisted for the night of 10/20. I was going to call yesterday, but DD is sick & I had to get her to the pedi for a 9am appt (yes, our pedi has weekend hours ).

It was the longest call I've ever had with MS. In total, I was on the phone for 25 mins. The CM told me I would need to buy extra points in order to complete my reservation, but I knew I had enough in my account so she put me on hold for 7 mins and came back and said, "Your stay will equal 213 points. You don't have enough in your account." Turns out that she was adding a night to our stay. Once we got that figured out, she put me on hold for another 5 mins to update my waitlist. Luckily the waits didn't affect my reservation.

But a standard 1 bedroom was available for the entire week. Crazy. I booked it, but will be waitlisting tomorrow since I needed 8 nights and have to call tomorrow for that extra day. If I had wanted a standard 1 bedroom it would not be available. Can you believe it was available for all 7 nights!

Just got off the phone and had no problem adding one more night to my daughter's reservation. I can't believe I got a 1 bedroom standard view at the 7 month window for 8 nights during F&W without having to waitlist. I remember booking my studio at the 11 month window and was nervous I wasn't going to get that, esp. the days where the CM would tell me there were only a few left.
