We just joined yesterday, so we couldn't try to make reservations any earlier. We called to see if we could find 4-5 days on any weekday nights at HH in late June or any ime during July. Naturally nothing was available, we did waitlist though. I am assuming this will not pan out, but I thought I would check with the experts to see if we have any chance of getting pulled off of the wait list this close to summer. What are your experiences?

Thanks!

You didn't mention what size unit you asked for. If 2BR, you have a whole lot better chance than if Studio or 1BR.

If you need a 2 BR and are willing to stay 6-7 days, you might also consider putting in an exchange request for the Marriott Barony and Grande Ocean. Still not a big chance of success but I'd say more than for the wait list if you can accept waiting until less than 60 days to decide.

No, we really only need a studio. We just thought it would be fun to take a quick "driving distance" trip to try it out. I really didn't think it would work out, but please tell me about being willing to wait until 60 days before? Why is this significant? I really don't understand how waitlisting works, especially how this connects with using our points, etc. I don't teach during the summer, the kids are still very young-preschooler/baby, and my husband's work schedule has some flexibility. Since we are driving, we can really just go whenever we would get a call.

One more question- I am also assuming that since I can't find space in a Disney Resort, it would be impossible to trade through II into something else. I would assume that those folks who own through II would have already booked those spaces too. Am I on target with this assumption?

I have until June 30th to bank 100% of this year's points (they gave us an extension since we just joined and the paperwork hasn't been processed yet). So I need to make all my decisions for 2005 UY points by then.

Thanks!

Did you try at any WDW DVC properties. If I were you, I'd try to book there and still waitlist for HH so that I would get a vacation in. But that's just me.

Late June and the month of July is the busiest time for all of HHI. When does your school schedule start again? If you can go in August you'll have a much better chance of getting a room. :sunny:

That's why we added on HHI points to our OKW ones. We had no problem getting HHI for xmas , but only able to get weekdays in June or July with the 11 month add-on. This year, we are tacking on 3 nights at HHI (June 25-28) after 5 at WDW( nice relaxation for the trip back to Boston).
Connears

It is true that it is easier for 2 bd-room in summer, not true throughtout the lower seasons.

True but only to a degree. Any time you add additional options, you improve your chances. And there is a certain amount of activity right around the 60 day window with much less competition. The same does not apply to DVC as it's a different system.

I think we may just switch everything around and try to go to SRS for a shorter trip this summer and then maybe try for HH for Spring Break next March (I teach at a college, so our Spring Break is usually a few weeks before the elementary/high school spring breaks in most states). What is HH like in March? We want to be able to do some touring of Charleston, too.

We used to go to HH during spring break for the same reason as you (college teacher). We've found the weather very variable-one year it was in the high 70s/low 80s, no rain; next year it never got above mid 50s, rained all week; last year, it was somewhere in between; this year DS messed up our plans and decided to get married then. But we love the low crowds then-shopping, miniature golf, biking, resturaunts, walking on the beach, etc.
