We are on waitlist for any DVC resort for 11/27-12/3. How long should we wait before we make other arrangements? We talked to MS and they indicated that there was no rooms available to use points for even non-DVC resorts. Has anyone had any experience with this type of situation or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

That's a very busy time (low points at DVC and great holiday decorations) and this year people have been on the waiting list for several weeks already. I wouldn't give up hope completely but I definitely would make otherbackup arrangements right away.

I've been on a waitlist for a few months for 12-3 thru 12-6. I made my backup arrangements--I'm really not expecting to get a DVC ressie for these days. If the list should come thru, then great. If not, I'll at least have a place to sleep! :D

first two weeks in december seem to be deadly for wait lists....

am also waiting for 4 days to add to the 3 we already have...
during the first week of december...

I would make back up reservations just to be safe, but don't give up you never know. I just got the 3 nights I was missing at BWV in a standard view villa for the beginning of Dec. I was on the wait list about 4 months and the days came through one day at a time but I got them all!!!

Thanks for your help. If I can make a reservation at one of the other hotels using points can I switch to one of the DVC locations if it becomes available or am I locked in because I used the points?

wfbnancy,

Sorry, but points used for non-DVC resort ressies stay reservation points if cancelled. They can only be used at non-DVC resorts in the future. If your wait list for a DVC resort comes through, you will need to use additional (different) points.

And you must be more than 60 days from the end of your use year to book a non-DVC option.

If you are going to go even if you can't get DVC accomodations on points, my advice is the same as others have posted - book a room now for cash with CRO. Be sure to find out the cancellation policy - you should be able to cancel 5 days ahead of arrival without penalty if you book room only with CRO. Check www.Mousesavers.com for any discount codes that may apply before you call. You can cancel this CRO reservation if the waitlist comes through for you. Good luck!

We've always had great success with the waitlists but have never traveled to WDW that time of year. I'd make alternative cash arrangements which can be easily canceled.

DVC resorts as well as low point season, seem to book up during the week of Annual meetings, which is then...

Lawgs - shall we meet? 11/24-12/08 BWV

will you be checking out the "pool" ( tongue in cheek )

southwest has made it easier to go to orlando this year...

but last week was "heat" deadly......and when we got home we were told us they had had a heat wave up here and sure enough we were sweating "beads" unpacking...

we go in october and end of november but if wait list does not come through soon will be staying off site

maybe we could meet for sure ...smilawgs
