We have booked our next vacation for September, but we have been waitlisted for our last night. Since this has never happened to us before, we need a little course in the "Art of Waitlisting."

How long should we wait to find out if we get that last night? We need to book airline tickets, so we will need to know when we are leaving. When someone is waitlisted, does Disney contact you or do you have to keep checking back? If you are waitlisted for the last night, do you normally book any available space, or do you leave early?

Just curious...
Thanks!

Susan

This far in advance, I would let DVC contact me of any openings. The wait-list does work, so just give it a chance. Once you get within 3-4 months, I'd start calling to see if anything is open. In the meantime, I'd see if I could find a back-up cash reservation someplace else on site (or a points backup at another DVC) so you can finalize your travel plans. I would still be very optimistic about finding that last night. Good luck!

We contacted MS tonight a few minutes ago in fact and found out that one of the three nights we have been waitlisted for a Bmv 2brin late Sep 01 in know a standard vierw rather than the more points in the preffered....It works but phone to check in a week or so...

We made our first attempt at ressies today.

No problem for a 1BR at OKW in June before we leave on the Magic (cruise is already paid for). It'll be a two day stay so we can get acquainted with the resort.

At the same time I tried to get a 1BR or studio at HH durng the highest of high seasons - the second week of July. Obviously, they were booked....

So, we waitlisted - is there any realistic chance we can get in or should we forget it?

Thanks again,
Scott

During Jan. we made ressie for the BWV for end of July begining of Aug. The ressies were for two studios standard view. We were able to get one and had to be wait listed for three days on the second. Within three weeks MS called and we now have the confirmed ressies. I would give MS a chance. It seems that if you are planning on Sept there is an excellent chance they will come throguh. Most of the schools are back in session by that time. Good Luck! Enjoy! ;)

Thank you all for the crash course on waitlisting!
I was feeling a tad discouraged - my dear husband said, oh well, we'll go home a day early...Needless to say, that didn't exactly ring my chimes!!! Now we'll just sit tight for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If that doesn't work, we'll go from there..

Again, thanks soooo much!!!

You could always book a night at the Embassy Suites or something similar near the airport. They may not even require a credit card, if they do you just need to cancel before that day...and make you airplane reservations for the number of days you want to be at WDW...

AWESOME IDEA!!! I would have never even thought of something like that!!! I can't wait to tell my hubby about that - he sure can't find fault with that reasoning, can he???

THANK YOU!!! Hugs!

If you will have transportation, check the vacation homes for rent on this website. You can get a 2br with a private pool at a good price. Not Disney, but not bad.

Anyone who reads my posts is probably tired of hearing this, but we always book our vacation on very short notice, sometimes just a few weeks in advance, and always during the summer; there have been times when we have been waitlisted for half of our vacation, and sometimes the days waitlisted being in the middle of the trip!! We have NEVER not gotten our days--(although once it was after we got down there). Since it's not until September, I would feel safe waiting for a while to see if they call you. I have had it work both ways, but usually I call often to ask, and especially if you are getting closer to the dates. Go ahead and make your plane reservations, and don't worry! Good luck!

Waitlisted last week for 2 weeks(either/or) in Oct 01 and called today to tell them the 2nd week was no good. They told me that a BWV pv studio for that first week had come thru. Now we are waitlisted for a sv. Only problem is all the points are borrowed so if a sv comes thru the points are not returnable to our account, which means another trip, right? DARN!
