Does the waitlist expire 30 days before your trip?? Are you able to continue to waitlist right up to the day you leave? :confused3 I have read several different things about this and I am unsure about the best way to do this for our upcoming trip.

We are waitlisted at Vero for any type of room for July 2, 3 and 4th. I know this is a long shot but trying to figure out the best way to do this.

Thanks!

This is my understanding: you have to call to be kept on the waitlist. I am not sure if it's 30 or 31 days out. Then at 7 days, you have to call every day.

Pixie Dust that you get something!!!

From our most recent DVC Planner:

Your request will remain on the waitlist for up to 31 days before your check-in date. If you'd like to keep your name on the waitlist beyond that time, please contact Member Services 32 days prior to the check in date.

There is no waitlist within 7 days of your check in date.

does it have to be the 32 day or can you do it a day or 2 before

Don't have personal experience, but it can't hurt to call a day or two sooner than 32 days prior. I'm sure MS will tell you if you have to call back exactly on the 32 day mark. (Can't imagine why you would, though).

Yesterday I was able to go on a waitlist and MS put a note that I wished to stay on it up until the 7 day mark. So, apparently that's an alternative. This is for a late June visit.

I did the same as above. I have been on the waitlist for several months and then begining on day 7, I need to call each day to check availability.

Can you make a reservation at another resort (would be POR for us) and be waitlisted for SSR/studio? Sorry if the question seems obvious but I didn't want to assume anything. We just joined and are trying to get last minute ressies at a DVC resort for our honeymoon. Guide said they only had POR left. Still waiting on member # so I can't call MS yet. TIA! :wizard:

Technically, you can book POR and wait list for SSR but I would not advise doing so. The problem is, once you commit points to book at POR, those points are now outside the DVC system -- they are "reservation" points and cannot be used to book a DVC resort. You can only use them at other WDW hotels and probably some other options, but definitely not at a DVC resort. So if your wait list at SSR came through, you would have to use some other DVC points to pay for it. And then later use the "reservation" points from the cancelled POR reservation for a stay at a WDW hotel at some other time. And there are restrictions on when reservation points can be used so you could end up losing them.

Bottom line: you should only book the POR reservation if you fully intend to stay there. If you really want to waitlist for one of the DVC resorts, then don't book the POR reservation as a "placeholder".

Thanks!! I am glad I asked...I definetly would not have known otherwise. Now DH and I have some decisions to make! :wizard:
