Waitlist vs Open Inventory

I did a search but could not find this specific question. I am wondering how the waitlist process works.
Say I am on the waitlist for a 1 bedroom and someone calls and cancels a 1 bedroom ressie, does the 1 bedroom go into open inventory or does it fulfill a waitlist request?
Are waitlists fulfilled during the day or at a certain time,like end of the day?

Wait list processing is Disney's best kept secret. I have asked MS several times and received several different answers.

I would love to know this secret. I had a waitlist for a 2bedroom and I tried to call MS yesterday but the lines were busy due to the Member Cruise bookings.
I checked on-line this morning and nothing. Checked just now and there it is! My waitlist came thru. I now have the 2bedroom that I wanted. Hurray!
