Waitlist question?

We are due to check in to OKW on Oct. 19 for 3 nights. 24 pts per night.

We decided to waitlist for a 1br at VWL to add on to our other days.

If the 3 days at VWL become available do they just cancel our OKW reservation for us and send us a new confirmation? If this flows into our other VWL reservation do they just turn it into one reservation so we don't have to change rooms?

I still have my OKW reservation in case the waitlist doesn't come through. This just stays "as is" if the waitlist doesn't come through, correct?

That depends on how you set it up with MS. Did you asked to be called if the rooms open or to just switch the reservation? If you asked to be called, nothing will happen without you being called, then you MUST confirm the switch, at that time you will get the new room and the current reservation will be canceled. You will also need to come up with additional points.

If you set up for auto switch (don't recall the correct DVC term) if all the nights for the new room open you will be switched, the additional points taken and you will get a new confirmation in the mail. Either way you will NOT loose the current reservation unless the new location is available and you get booked into the new location.

I set up to be automatically switched if the 3 nights become available. It is the same number of pts for the OKW 2 br as it is for the VWL 1 br.

At what point do I go off the waitlist if there is no availability. I thought she said something about 31 days or could something open up a week before we leave and I could still make the switch?

I was told that since the points needed are the same, they will keep you on until 7 days prior. You can at that time call and ask day by day. I would think if it was to open up it would be by 31 days prior. Otherwise the points for the person canceling would go to a hold account. This does happen, when events "force" a last minute cancellation.
