Waitlist Question

I need to try and add a night at the end of our reservation. I’ve never used the waitlist before.

Do you recommend just making a waitlist for the single night and then, if it comes through, have the reservations merged OR making the waitlist for the entirety of the trip to replace the existing reservation if it comes through?

Also— when I talked to Member Services this evening they suggested doing it for the whole trip and then having it replace if it adds the last night. They said that’s how they set it up. However, when I look at my waitlist, it only says Oct 13-14th. Does that mean they did it incorrectly?

If you only need one night, just waitlist that night. Your chances of getting it is much higher that way. MS can merge it later for you.

I agree - WL only the one night. If someone cancels that night, you’ll be in line to get it.

If you WL the entire stay, you won’t get it unless ALL the nights become available at the same time. That’s much less likely to occur than having the single night become available. (Not all DVC CMs have been around long enough to know this.)

You should also check several times a day yourself. Sometimes the WL is slow to pick things up. If you find it yourself, cancel the WL after you book it. If that night becomes available again, you’ll know that your WL matched but just hadn’t been completed by a CM.
