Waitlist Question

I seem to remember that, when I originally waitlisted for 1 night, I had to specify whether or not I was willing to borrow points to make it happen. Since I had plenty of points in my account I indicated I didn't want to borrow.

Then I screwed up. In an excess of efficiency I just banked all the points I "knew" I wasn't going to need. I'd forgotten that if my waitlist came through it would require one additional point.

So now, if the waitlist comes through, one point would need to be borrowed. I called MS and asked about this, but I'm not sure about the answer I got. I'm afraid that if I've screwed this up my waitlist might be rejected. Does anyone know if my memory is correct that I might have specified "no borrowing." I can't find any information about this in my waitlist request online, or any information in general.

Yes, you previously had to indicated if you wanted them to borrow points if necessary to complete the reservation. Now, they will automatically borrow if necessary.

Policy now is permission to borrow is automatically implied. Not sure if they can override that default if you call MS.

No, you choose now to borrow or not. So, if the OP chose not to borrow they will not do it.

There is no way to go back and see what you chose. I take a screenshot of the screen when I set up the waitlist that shows I said not to borrow in case I need proof

Just call MS and tell them to add a note that you can’t remember but do authorize the borrowing of that point should the waitlist fill.

It’s been this way for a few years and I waitlist constantly…it’s why I screenshot now to ensure they dont borrow when i indicated not to do it!
