I originally had a waitlist for 2 nights at the Poly in October. I decided to randomly check and the first of the two nights was available so I went ahead and grabbed it. What works better...to keep the waitlist as is so I don't lose my spot in line OR do I need to cancel that waitlist and just create a new waitlist for the one night that we now need?

If you didn’t set up it to cancel something, it will only fill for both nights even though you have one already.

What it means is that if that one night becomes available and your waitlist is for the original 2 they will skip right over you so in essence it doesn’t matter where you are since they don’t hold the night.

Being on new waitlist for just one night would actually jump you ahead of your current one if that night comes in.

That is what I always do. Now you could call or chat with MS to see if they can adjust it without changing your place but typically it does.

Going to add to go back and check for the room if you cancel the waitlist because if it did fill and was waiting to be processed...nothing shows that..you may find the night there.

That has happened to me a few times when o took my second choice and canceled the waitlist for my first one.

Thank you!!!

I have a wait-list on my dashboard. The reservation request is for 5 nights and only the first night was the one not available. If it doesnt come through does the whole reservation get cancelled?

If you booked 4 of the 5 nights and then set up the waitlist for all 5, it means the system won't fill that waitlist until all 5 become available, even though you hold 4 of the 5 nights. You would want a waitlist for just the one night instead, so they can fill it, and then you ask MS to merge into one when you have all the nights you want.

Now, if you didn't book anything because night 1 was not available, and just put in a waitlist for 5 nights, then the system will not "hold" the nights that were there until night 1 shows up. It will search until all 5 are there, and simply fill it.

When you set up the waitlist, you choose to replace something already booked if that is what you want. If you didn't set it up that way, it will not replace, but book new.
