Hi everyone!

We already have a studio booked at the poly for 3 nights right before Thanksgiving. My mom would like to join us with my sister-in-law, niece, and nephew which would require another studio room. Right now there are 2 of the 3 nights available to book. Should I book those and then do a waitlist for the full 3 nights replacing that booking or just do a waitlist for the 3rd night? All of the waitlists I've done in the past were for stays with absolutely no availability so not sure what's the best method is here.

Yes, waitlist just the one night and book the others. If it comes in, then you can call MS and they will merge the 3 nights into one assuming they are the same view!

I would book what's available and create a waitlist just for the remaining night.

Totally agree, book what's available and waitlist the one night. This is exactly what I do, even for multiple nights. I also keep checking the online booking, which I learned the hard way is sometimes needed when trying to book a popular time. The first time I waitlisted a night, I saw it come available on the online booking system and thought I was good because I assumed the waitlist would kick in automatically, before availability would be released for new bookings, and I would never have seen availability until all waitlist requests were filled. Wrong! Luckily, I was able to snag the night a few days later, but I learned that waitlisting isn't infallible. Waitlists are automatically booked, but vacancies will not be held automatically if a cancellation happens, meaning someone who happens to be looking at that same date when it is released back into the system still has the opportunity to book before a waitlisted date for the same night is filled. That said, I have had luck with waitlisted nights being automatically booked, so the system does work. However, there have also been numerous occasions that I've manually booked before the waitlist booking kicked in and I'm confident I wouldn't have gotten that night reserved if I hadn't. When I do book manually, I just cancel my waitlist request for that night. We've been lucky so far, and have always been able to book the dates we wanted, even when needing to waitlist some of the nights.
