Waitlist Question

I called MS about this, but the answer they gave me was pretty confusing. After being put on hold for several minutes and spending even longer trying to talk to the girl I finally gave up. So here's what I'm wondering. If I book a reservation using all points from my current UY and some borrowed points, and then my waitlist comes through and the waitlist is for LESS points than my reservation, what happens to those borrowed points? Does the system use those first to satisfy the waitlist so then any leftover points would be from my current UY and bankable assuming I'm still within my banking deadline? OR would the leftover points be considered the borrowed points that I could not then bank? Am I making sense? MS told me that the system will use points that expire first so any left over points would be the borrowed ones. But that doesn't make any sense to me. If I borrow points into my current UY then all the points would have the same expiration, would they not? Am I making sense?

I don't know exactly what the system will do automatically for certain but it should use the borrowed points. The good thing is that if it doesn't you can call in and ask MS to reallocate the points used and have them switch to use the borrowed points and free up the current UY points so that you can bank them if you are still within the banking window.

The "system" is suppose to use borrowed points first, then banked points, then current points. It doesn't always happen so know your points and double check your account(s).
