Waitlist Question : Moving Booked Trip One Day Forward?

Hello! Can't get my head around this one...

I have 6.11 - 6.18 booked @ Riviera. I would LOVE to change it to 6.10 - 6.17. We are planning on driving (14 hours) and I'd rather not spend Father's Day driving home. Here are the challenges...

6.10 is not available right now. If I waitlist one night the system will borrow points from 2024 and I'll end up wasting them because I don't plan on going back before September. I could cancel 6.18 but then those points need used this use year.

My question is... is the waitlist smart enough to know that I already have 6.11 - 6.17 reserved and use that to match the week? If I waitlist the whole trip will it know that I only need the one night? Will it only match if the entire week opens up? Am I better off to just keep checking the site a few times per day between meetings and modify the trip manually?

I'm okay going Sunday to Sunday if it doesn't work out but thought it would be nice to spend Father's Day at home relaxing instead of racing north on i95.

One option would be to call member services and break up your current reservation into two separate reservations: 6/11-6/17 and 6/17-6/18. After that, put in a waitlist request for 6/10-6/11 and select the box where you can cancel an existing reservation (in this case, 6/17-6/18). if the waitlist comes through, only 6/17-6/18 will be cancelled. You can then call member services and have them link the reservations so you will have 6/10-6/17.

In order for MS to do this, the date of the 17th still needs to be available, or you have to hope that when they drop it to rebook, the system doesn’t take it for a waitlist.

They can’t just split. It’s a cancel and rebook.
