Waitlist Question for SSR Add On

I posted on another thread that we had called today to take advantage of the incentives at SSR and add on 100 points to our Oct UY contract. The guide looked in the system and said that it showed 183 points available but she needed to call and verify that. She put me on hold and then came back and said that the Oct UY had 25 people ahead of us on the waiting list and if we wanted to add on then we had to put our names on the waiting list too.

Now, realistically how on earth is 183 points going to last very long with 25 people ahead of us? Won't the first 1 or 2 people wipe those out?

Can someone explain what being on the waitlist actually means and how long it would take before we find out if we can add on? Does DVC call the 25 people ahead of us and offer them the points and if all of them turn them down and there are still 100 left when it gets to our name we get to add on? If there are only 83 left will they even offer that to us?

Our guide said she was "hopeful" that we would be able to add on. I would have asked her more questions but I guess I was still in shock that I couldn't just call and add on (lesson learned here!) and she was leaving for a week's vacation.

I wouldn't worry about it, Disney wants to sell points. Maybe she wants to sell you AKV? They don't really advertise how they assign UYs but every time when we were told that they were out of points, magically they appeared in a few days.

I would wait a couple of weeks on the "wait list", call your Guide and let her know that you you are tired of waiting and that you will be looking at resales. I bet your SSR points will magically appear.

Thanks for the reply. I asked her about AKV on the phone today and she looked and said that Oct UY for 2008 points was sold out so that if we bought into AKV we wouldn't get any points until 2009 except for the developer points.

Honestly, either property is fine with me but we really wanted to add on because of the incentives at SSR. Do we still get the incentives if the points magically are available for sale in a few weeks since we put our name on the list during the promotion?

The incentive rules seem to change without notice. You should talk to your Guide about it. You might also call the Sales Center after she has left on vacation and talk to a different Guide. You might get a different answer.

Just wanted to give an update. Our guide called today and told us that our 100 point add-on contract went through. Sure enough I checked the dvcmember website and that extra 100 points is already there!

According to our guide we will have all of the incentives - $10 off per point, 2007 points (which are actually already in our account) and the $500 Disney gift card.

So now the waiting begins for BLT!
