Waitlist question-can this happen?

I was wondering if this is possible with the waitlist. Say person A confirms at the BCV at 11 months, then waitlists at BWV at 7 months, because by then nothing is available (it's the a popular DVC time). Then person B, a BWV owner, confirms at BWV at 11 months, but at 7 months, needs to waitlist at BCV because by now they're "sold out" also. For whatever reason, their respective waitlists don't come thru. So, come vacation time, you have a family over at BCV who really wanted BWV, and you have a family at BWV who really wanted BCV. If anyone can follow this, tell me-could this really happen? Or does MS cross-check waitlists so that A and B can swap? I was just wondering if this scenario ever happens (Please don't tell me I have too much time on my hands to be worried about this!)

AFAIK, it could happen - I doubt very much whether waitlists are cross checked in the manner you describe. It would be way too time consuming.

Plus, what are the chances of no one else being on the waitlist ahead of one of the two parties? It would only take one person on the waitlist ahead of Person A or Person B who needed one day of the time frame to derail the "swap". If Person A (or B) cancels the reservation, the days go to the first person on the waitlist who can take advantage of the now available days - even if the person on the waitlist only wanted 1 of the days.

Waitlists are complicated - I just don't think MS has the software to do what you suggest. Even if they did, for the popular times, I don't see it working out anyway.

Best wishes -
