Waitlist points question

I have several waitlist points questions.

If you setup a waitlist to replace an existing reservation, and at a later date, cancel the existing reservation, is the waitlist still valid?

Would they take the points from your current use year because there is no longer an existing reservation?

Would you not get the waitlist because they don’t know where to take the points from?

What if you don’t have enough points in the current use year?

Instead of cancelling the existing reservation and you modified it to something else (different dates, room designation, resort), and the waitlist came through? My guess is that the modified reservation would still have the same reservation # as the original, so they would then cancel the modified reservation and replace it with the waitlist?

If you cancel the reservation, and the waitlist fills, then they won’t fill it or they might call you to find out if you still want it.

If you did not auhorize borrowing, then they should not fill the waitlist for you.

If you modify the existing to a new resort, the waitlist will still fill. Sometimes they will call to double check.

Best thing to do if you still want the waitlist, is to contact MS and have them put notes on the waitlist for what you want to happen.
