I am a new DVC owner trying to piece together a quick F&W trip in Oct. I was able to secure a studio at OKW on 10/6 & 10/7. However, one is close to HH and the other isn't and they are not able to link them as a continuation stay. Therefore, I waitlisted (WL) 2 single nights for the opposite of those above with cancels for existing. Assuming I am able to get one of them, I will need to cancel the other very quickly. How will I be notified of a successful WL? email? dashboard? call?

You should receive an email and you dashboard should show it at well. In your case, since you have each night waitlisted for the other room type, I would check daily to see if it is there, just in case the email is delayed. If you see the waitlist disappear from the dashboard, but not the new reservation, that is a good sign that it matched. If this happens, I would give MS a call to check so that if one did, you can immediately cancel. The other option, is to check the website a few times a day to see if one of those nights comes open on it's own. This way, it can be booked and then you can cancel the waitlists and the other room. Unfortuantely, sometimes rooms will show up in inventory before they are matched to waitlists so doing this gives you an extra chance!

When the waitlist matches, the other waitlist should be cancelled automatically. Well, not really automatically, but the member services CM who completes the reservation should cancel any additional waitlist that appear to be supplementary to the one that matched.

The 2 WL are single nights for diff nights. If it hits it will cancel other reservation on same day but I will have to manual cancel the remaining WL. Hoping it hits.

The process of completing the reservation and cancelling the one it's replacing are actually manual actions taken by a person in Member Services. They're supposed to also check and cancel any other conflicting waitlists. Being a manual process, it isn't a sure thing, but that's how it's supposed to work.
