Waitlist notification?

How does Membership notify you if your waitlist comes through? Is it by phone, or does it happen automatically? :confused3
I've waitlisted for another DVC resort for part of an upcoming trip (never did it before) and I was wondering what's done if you can't be reached on your home phone. Do you need to give a verbal "go ahead" when they call you, or do they just change your reservation per waitlisted request? Do you give them your cell phone number (as an "emergency" back-up number :teeth: )?

In my case a voice mail was left on my phone- I called back to confirm and all was completed. I think you need to respond in 24 hours?
 
You can set up an automatic waitlist with them. That's what I do and it has always worked. (To be fair, I've only waitlisted 3 times since becoming members.) If the new ressie uses more points, I've told them where to take the points from. It has never been a problem. I find out that the waitlist came through either by getting new confirmation sheets or by seeing it on the Members site.

If you tell them not to make the change unless they call you, then you will get a call and have 24 hours to call DVC back. Note, be careful if you want to be called back at a special number (say on your cel phone vs. your home phone) because in my experience, they don't bother to read the note telling them where to call you. :confused3 This can be a problem if you go away for a few days and don't call home to check your messages.

I fixed the problem recently when we moved. Now the only contact number DVC has is with my cel phone.
 

I requested a waitlist and must have said automatic because when I was looking on my account via the website I noticed that it had come through.
 
Nothing better than getting one of those waitlist calls. :banana:
 
I guess I must have also indicated that I wanted an automatic reservation if the waitlist came thru. I had waitlisted for a GV at OKW in April and while we were at HH it came thru and the letter was waiting for me when we returned. It said "On 9-8-06 the following ......." but the letter arrived between 9-16 and 9-23. And there was no message on the voice mail and I had not gotten one prior to our being gone.

I had been checking the website every now and then to see if it had been changed. I remember reading about that on these boards.

It saved us 90 points and they were returned to my accounts (we have VB and SSR).
 
For our upcoming trip we had ressies at BCV except for one night (in the middle) which we had to take OKW because of no availability at BCV for that one night. We waitlisted and when it came through I saw it on line and received an acknowledgement letter about a week later.

Recently, we decided to add a day onto the front of the trip but there was nothing available in all of DVC. We waitlisted and got a call last week to call within 24 hours if we wanted to verify.

Not sure why it was handled differently. I thought it had something to do with the fact that we had no ressie at all for that extra day.
 
:dance3: A great weekend for us...First on friday I called MS to check status of waitlist for two days during Presidents week...Been waiting for about six weeks and heard nothing....While I was on the phone MS agent was surprised as my wait list for those days had just come in. She made the necessary adjustments and gave me the confirmation numbers. Now we won't have to switch resorts during our stay and two bedroom all the way...Then on saturday the mailman shows up with the vacation planner I read about on these boards...Very nice print..... :yay: :yay: :yay:
