Waitlist for November 2019...UGH

Well, we got a letter from Southwest this morning stating that our second leg flight to MCO was cancelled and they re-booked us on the next flight, which will put us into MCO an hour and a half later than expected...BOOOOOOOOOOO
SO, we deliberated over a couple of options and decided on the following plan:

Waitlist 1 night in 2 Studios at Poly (where are booked for entirety of our vacation) for 11/19 (yeah, I am not holding my breath) for up to 31 days before arrival
If waitlist comes through, change outbound flight to leave on 11/19 instead of 11/20, with arrival at 12:20am (SW gave us until 14 days before departure to make that change)
Grab luggage and catch ME to Poly

If waitlist does NOT come through, keep current flight reservations and new arrival time at MCO is 1:25pm
The silver lining with this is that our layover is longer, giving us time to eat a meal that we would have had to eat upon arriving at MCO anyway.

I need waitlist success stories to boost my spirits...Anyone ever book waitlist in November and actually get it?

I think I'm confused, is your arrival into MCO now a day earlier and you're left without a room? If you are worried about not getting rooms at poly maybe add a night else where on property, maybe do a value to keep costs down. Not sure you really had a question though.

Sorry, because we are getting into MCO later than expected now with the new flight SW put us on, we are looking at flying the night before we originally have booked. Because we don't want to resort hop, we are waitlisting the same resort we have booked for our trip, the Poly. If our waitlist comes through, we will change our flights. If it doesn't, we will just keep our original plans

It wasn't really a question post, but rather a request for waitlist success stories. :)

OH OK, sorry I've never been on a waitlist for a resort. How irritating to have your plans derailed for no fault of your own. Good luck, I hope they do come through for you!!

My waitlist for VWL for 11/16-19 just came through this week, so people do change plans around all the time!

The chances of getting 2 waitlists at the poly to come thru at this late date for such a busy time is very small.

That's encouraging! Thanks!

All that for an hour and a half later arrival wouldn’t be worth it for me.

I probably made this clear as mud.
We either keep our current flights that leave at 6am arrive around 1:30pm (which means we won't be at DHS from the Poly until close to 4pm at the earliest) on 11/20 OR we can fly in the night before on 11/19, if we get our waitlist rooms. Going in the night before would probably give us the equivalent of 6 extra park hours on 11/20.

I would post this over in the DVC resorts forum — I think you’ll get more responses there.

It’s so hard to predict on waitlists. I personally think getting 2 studios will be tough.

If you really want to get there the day before, I’d probably book another DVC resort with availability for the night (if there is one) and just drop your luggage to be transferred to Poly in the when you go to the parks. Otherwise I’d keep your plan as-is. While your waitlist could be fulfilled, I think 2 will be tough to count on.

The same thing happening to you might be happening to other people so you might get lucky. I had almost the same thing happen to me. I am now coming in a day early for my trip in 13 days and 18 hours and 7 minutes. No I am not excited lol but yeah I had to leave a day early because my rebook flight from the online sucked and there was nothing better. But they manage to fit me in a day early. Don't give up hope. It is happening to everyone so it might work out for you.

My waitlist for a full week may have come through, but I puzzled it together when days opened up. Keep stalking and maybe something will open closer to the time. I've heard that one day waitlists do come through often
