Waitlist dilemma

I am planning a four night trip for 12/4-12/8. I was able to book BWV-Boardwalk view for the two middle nights. I have waitlisted for all three views for the first and last night, and I have back up reservations at OKW/SSR for those nights. My dilemma is this. If I match for preferred or standard view at BWV, that will automatically cancel my Boardwalk view waitlist request, which has been ongoing for quite some time and I will lose my place in the queue. I am considering cancelling the preferred and standard waitlist requests. Is that dumb? What do you think my chances are if I stick with just a Boardwalk view waitlist request? Obviously, if I have to move rooms, moving among BW rooms is better than moving between OKW, BWV and SSR.

You do have a dilemma!

Can you book a cash or points reservation at OKW/SSR for the middle 2 nights, so you are assured of having a place to stay without having to move? Can you tell that I really don't like to move, esp. with such a short stay?

Then, with a back-up in place, I would try to decide how badly I wanted to be at BWV in any room vs. having the BW view. If BWV in any room was more important, I would switch you current ressie to preferred view (assuming its available), waitlist for the 2 missing days separately in PV and waitlist for all 4 nights in the BW view. With most of the units PV, your best chance of getting a room are in PV and your best chance for a WL for any room is one day at a time.

If the BW view is important (or PV is not available for the middle 2 nights), then I would WL for the missing 2 nights in BW view for each night separately, and for all 4 nights in PV.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

Thank you Suzanne. I appreciate your insight. I didn't think of making a backup ressie for PV. I should have done that at the same time I made the BV ressie. I will do it that way next time. Now it's not available. I wish they would agree to leave my BV waitlist in place if the PV matches. That would solve my problem. 1st CM said they would, but subsequent CMs have said it will be automatically cancelled.

I'm in a similar situation. I was able to book a PV at BWV for 2 nights of a 5 night stay. I had the night of Nov. 30th and Dec. 2nd and needed the nights of Dec. 1st, 3rd and 4th. I waitlisted for a PV at BWV for the 3 nights I still needed and then waitlisted the entire stay at both SV and BV at BWV. Then when the 7 month window opened up I booked the 3 nights at SSR. My waitlist for the night of Dec. 2nd came through. So now I just have a waitlist for the nights of Dec. 3rd and 4th for the PV and the entire stay for BV and SV.

If you don't mind staying either PV or SV you could waitlist the entire trip for those 2 views while remaining on the waitlist for the first and last nights for BV. If your waitlist for PV or SV came through before the 2 remaining BV nights came through you would lose out on the BV. I guess it depends on what is more important to you a BV or not having to move.
