Waitlist Celebration

I have been a DVC member since 1999, and I have NEVER had a waitlist come through. DS has been accepted to the Disney College Program beginning in August, so DH and I decided we'd do a quick trip in mid-October. SSR was all that was available, but, on whim, I waitlisted our home BWV. And today, it came through. I'm so excited and just had to share. (No one else understands. LOL)

I've been a member for only four years, but have never had a wait list come through. I think wait lists coming through might actually be mythical creatures, like unicorns. So I'm very very excited that you have found this mythical beast. Congratulations!!!!!!

Congratulations on your waitlist triumph. I have been a member since 1997 and have had good luck with waitlists except for one time for an October one for OKw and another for BCV that was made for the whole week about 4 months out and was for April this year. I have found that waitlisting individual days has worked best after reserving the available days. I fortunately have enough points to have been able to have back up reservations just in case. When a waitlist comes through it is a wonderful feeling. My last one was for of all things a studio at SSR this past April made about a month before the trip. We decided to add three days at the end of a 10 night stay (3 SSR and 7 BCV). The only thing I could get was 2 nights at SSR and waitlisted the last day which was the first of the 3 days. My backup plan was to stay offsite for the one night as we had our car there. I am really glad it came through just two days after I put the waitlist in. Congratulations! You should buy a lottery ticket! Getting a waitlist is hard enough (and stressful waiting). Getting one in October at BWV is a rare occurrence. I've been waitlisted for ONE night at BWV and for ONE night at bcv for months and feel defeated as each day goes by. While I booked my trip at 11 months, I didn't anticipate having to extend to get a decent airfare!

Wow, all but one of the six wait lists I have had have come thru. I decided about a month ago to add one more night, a Saturday, to my BWV reservation during F&W. It came thru yesterday. I didn't expect to hear anything until after the F&W schedules came out and folks finalized plans, so I am very happy. Granted, most of my wait list requests have been to add only one or two nights which probably makes it easier to obtain.

That's always my problem. I have mostly waitlisted whole trips -- three or four days, etc. I get that that's not the most effective way to use the waitlist, but DH and I really hate to change resorts. I usually book an available (like I had SSR booked for this trip) and then waitlist the resort I want for the whole time.

It's nice that some of our F&W requests are coming through.

Some people might be happy today. I was just on the MS website and it looks like they had just put a studio at BCV back into service because there was alot of availability throughout Sep/Oct/Nov.....Unfortunately the one night I needed was already gone. Got out and back in (website issues?) and those days were disappearing fast. So I'm guessing some folks will be happy.
