I thought it was interesting that I waitlisted for a 1BR over Thanksgiving at SSR (our first DVC trip) - (we had a studio reserved already) and when I called to check some other details, they asked me "By the way, did you know your waitlist had come through?" They were supposed to have called me and given me 24 hours to change the ressie - maybe it was just a coincidence that I called at the exact moment the ressie came through? Anyway just wondered if that's happened to others. Oh well, who cares - now I'm even more excited about the trip! :yay:

Unless you had told them to call you, they will automatically change the reservations, or maybe it came through the day you called. Anyway, glad you got it. I didn't tell them to inform me when my request came through so they just changed it and sent me a new reservation, acually that is how I found out when I received it.

Same thing happen to us last Dec on waitlist at OKW>

I'm on a few waitlists, and I'm curious about this too. I asked MS when do they change the ressies over if the dates come available. I wanted to know the turn-around time. She didn't know...I have most dates to change automatically without calling me, but if the few come through where I requested a call, I will definitely ask this question! :wizard:

Last year, I was again, on waitlists for dates/accomodations...I received ph. calls after MS was closed, or maybe it was a Thursday night when MS stays open later! :confused3 I just imagine a person with a pile of waitlisted DVCer's! :bitelip: It's either a lot of fun :goodvibes , or a real drag :rolleyes1

When I have had a Waitlist come thru, they have usually called on a Thursday afternoon. This past Friday they called with my waitlist match (upgraded from a studio to a 1BR at BCV the weekend before Thxgiving).

It could have been that you called on the exact day that your waitlist match came up, or they might have been preparing to call you the next day. I don;t know how long it takes them to call to inform us of waitlist matches, but I am guessing it is a day or two at most. Automatic switching is handy, and after a few weeks, you'll get a confimation telling you that it happened. But I like knowing, so I try to have them call me on my cell.

Congrats on your waitlist match!

One of my wait list requests came through last Thurs. or Fri. also. I got a call in the am. I had two options for a studio in Oct. (only one of my nights) - either Pr. view or BW view. I took the Pr. view since I had another Pr. view that had already become available. I'm still on the wait list for a couple other nights or to switch to standard. I found out about one of the four wait list nights (all in Oct.) that I've gotten when I was calling MS for something else. The others I've gotten calls about. I imagine it's just a timing thing. I'm assuming that those wait list availabilities are held as such for a while until MS can make the necessary calls/confirmations.

I'm waitlisted for a boardwalk view in August and have been checking on the DVC site daily....hoping and wishing!!! I'm getting nervous because we'll have to move 3 times in 4 days if it doesn't come through.

We had a waitlist come through and the way we found out was by getting a new confirmation letter in the mail. It was okay with me, but a call would have been nice...

Oh dear!! Here's pixie dust for both of us!! :wizard: :thumbsup2 :goodvibes :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Well, the phantom waitlist authorization came through for me too. I was just checking myDVC, and noticed that my waitlist for BWV for the last night of my stay in July was executed on 6/6. They cancelled the 1-night I had at OKW, borrowed the needed 3 points, and reserved the BWV room. It would have been what I wanted anyway, but I did ask that they call me before executing the cancel/borrow/rebook transaction.

It's all good, though. It saves the hassle of packing and moving for that last night!

I've had the same thing happen... had a waitlist sitting there waiting for my approval without having had a phone call alerting me. It does make you wonder what would have happened if you hadn't called!

This made me curious, so I decided to take a look, and sure enough, my waitlist for Oct. came through! I must admit I'm somewhat surprised because we waitlisted for the entire trip, not day by day. But like others have posted, I didn't get a phone call. I did ask for automatic confirmation though. However, last year I also asked for automatic and MS still called. We leave for a mini vacation tomorrow and I was worried the phone call would come while we're gone. Now I can have a carefree trip!

While I was on the phone with MS, I found out that my waitlist expired. It was for 31 days out, instead of up to 7 days before arrival like I thought. After I hung up, the CM from MS called me telling me that when she was renewing my waitlist, it became available! She booked it on the spot. :cloud9:

I've taken 4 DVC trips and waitlisted on 3 of them (sometimes with multiple waitlist options). Three of my waitlists came through when I called to inquire about something else at MS. They'd say, "Oh, I see that your waitlist for such-and-such has come through. Would you like me to change that for you at this time?" My understanding is that they notify folks in batches. That might explain why you get suprised with it when you call sometimes.

And speaking of phantom waitlist...I had booked our Feb 06 BWV BWview studio at 3 weeks out. I had to waitlist for the last night. At 7 days out, it still had not come through so I was told to call day-by-day and to call several times a day as cancelations could occur at anytime. The morning of the 3rd day out I called and no luck. I called that evening at 5:30pm and was told, "Ma'am, you're already booked for BWV BWview for that last night." She said this to me as if I was an idiot for not knowing my own reservation. I explained the situation to her and she said, "Oh, well I guess a CM at BWV saw your situation while assigning rooms and went ahead and gave you an available room." However it happened made no difference to me. I was just THRILLED that it did happen. I checked the reservation on the DVC website just to make sure...and sure enough...it was all changed.

So you never know when that waitlist might come through. You just have to keep at it...even until check-in.

I think whoever said they call on Thursdays or Fridays must be right... because when I got home yesterday, there was a phone message about our waitlist! Woo! :)

For those of you that found out about your waitlist through the DVC website, have you received a paper confirmation through snail mail? We were out of town for six days and I thought for sure there would be something here when we got home, but nothing. I'll just feel more like it's set in stone when I get that in the mail.

I posted a thread about this too. I was on the phone with DVC about a January trip, and they said "oh, your wait list for October has come through." I am delighted because it was for BCV, and it's going to make going to F & W such a pleasure. Plus I'm happy about Stormalong Bay. I had opted for automatic confirmation earlier because we'd been on the waitlist for a few months and with the summer schedules I was worried about missing the call.
