I’ve never done a waitlist that expires 7 days before a trip. If I have a 20 pt room waitlisted and it replaces a 15 pt room I assume nothing goes into holding …it’s essentially like a modification using more points? Can anybody confirm this.

Also, interestingly when creating the waitlist it now mentions that any dining plan attached to the room to be replaced will be refunded. I’ve never seen this message before so I am either not observant or perhaps it is a hint that the dining plan is getting ready to come back?

Correct - If the waitlist replaces a reservation that took less points than the new one, no harm done. It's the same as any modification that uses more points.

No idea re your second question, but I have a hard time believing the dining plan is coming back in the near future. IMO, there just isn't enough dining capacity to handle them. When/If attendance levels fall and Disney deems discounts are necessary to fill rooms, dining plans could be an option.

Thanks for the info. And what I meant by getting ready to come back is like in 7-11 months.....
