Waitlist Advice Please!

Hi all! I'm a new owner at PVB. My deed was recorded on Monday (June 20) and so I *should* have my new account and points loaded in a week or so. The dates we were hoping to travel for our first ever DVC trip are already full. So, I'm planning to do a waitlist as soon as my account is set up.

We'd really like a studio (preferably not OKW or SSR but any others are fine no matter the category) for 3 consecutive nights during the week of Thanksgiving (any 3 consecutive nights 11/19-11/25). I realize this one is going to be TOUGH because it's a major holiday week.

What would you request? What resort/dates do you think I'd be most likely to get?

I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Honestly, SSR and OKW are your best bet. I would also stalk the website constantly and book any room that shows up, even if it is not for three nights to try and piece something together.

Agree with Sandi. If it was me, I would waitlist both SSR Preferred and Standard for the 3 days that would work best for you. You can always stalk the reservation website for other options. The key is to get a room first then see if you can move it

The thing is, I could book a 1BR at SSR or OKW. And if I book there, that’s what I would want. I just wanted to know what studios at other resorts would be most likely to get via WL.

SSR will be the most likely to match. If you are planning to do ANY cooking , a 1br is a must.

Based on the sheer number of studios, PVB might be your best option. There are more Standard studios at PVB than at SSR.

Kidani Standard, BWV Pool/Garden, and BLT Lake view might be good options, too.

200 more studios were added to VGF.

If I’m understanding the current situation correctly, DVD just declared the remaining 1/2 of the points for the new GFV resort studios… so in theory there should be a bunch more rooms coming online at some point soon. I would think (and will defer to others more knowledgeable if I’m incorrect) that you would have a pretty good chance of snapping up one of those resort studios if you have a WL request in before those become available for booking…

But only half have been declared into DVC inventory. The other half are only available for cash reservations (currently).

My mistake. Somehow I missed the declaration on June 10. I'm very surprised that they did it so soon.

Me too! I know it's selling well, but it's not selling THAT well. Are they actually throwing owners a bone to alleviate the points glut?

Along with everyone's advice, you have two waitlists you can set, so you could do one at SSR and one at PVB. We just had one come through for an otherwise fully booked week (not even a single room was showing), so all it takes is for potentially one guest to cancel and shazam, you get your waitlist. We have one other one we're waiting on, so fingers crossed. We also check daily, but I personally have had more luck with the waitlists. Good luck!

Just wanted to update that I was able to piece together a few rooms at BLT during Thanksgiving week but was missing a Tuesday in the middle. I waitlisted and it came through! I have 4 consecutive nights at a Lake View studio at BLT. Sooooooo excited!

Waitlist is numbers, you can look up the room inventory and see what number of each type of room is in the inventory. It varies a little, like a room or two at BLT change views, but it's pretty close.

But holy moly lake view BLT!!!!! Sounds like you got this girl!
