We just closed yesterday and are waiting for points to show up so we can book our first vacation as members. We are looking at staying at AKV during the last week of August. What are our chances of getting a savanna view studio? It is our home resort so I think it would be great for our first time to stay at our home resort. If we can't get AKV, I dont know which resort we should try as a second choice. Any suggestions?

First, congratulations on your purchase! I am also an AKV owner--you will love it there. Savannah view rooms are awesome and so worth the additional points.

I assume you bought resale because if you bought direct, your points would be there by now. Resale points are usually there within a week.

AKV is a large resort and aug is a relatively slow for DVC but 4-5 months out is relatively short notice. my guess is you'll get a sav view but if not, take what you can get and waitlist sav view if you have to...

if AKV is full, SSR is probably your best bet.

Congratulations!!! And Welcome to the DVC Family! I also own at AKV. For our first stay "home" I booked in June for a 2 night stay (post cruise) in a studio in Oct during MNSSHP and The Food & Wine Festival. There were no Savannah views available when I booked so I wait-listed. A Savannah view room came through a few weeks later!!! It was great. The room was HUGE compared to the moderates I had previously stayed in. Being able to see the animals was so fun and very entertaining for my then 3 year old. You are going to fall in love with Animal Kingdom!!!!

I would say your chances should be good. I just got pts in my acct on a resale purchase a couple of weeks ago and was able to get 4 studio rooms (2 sav view, 2 std view) at Kidani for the last week in June. The end of Aug is a slower time than the end of June, and your're slightly farther out than I was. Good luck!
