Waiting....

I sit here night after night reading these threads, impatiently waiting for our upcoming trip. I have 4 big Old Navy bags set up in my bedroom - one for each of us - and have already packed our clothes in ziplock bags (even though I will have to wash them before we go!) with a sticky notes counting down what I have left to pack. I would have them already in the suitcases, but the kids took theirs to grandmas! I keep browsing disneyshopping to make sure I don't need to order anything else. I still have almost 2 months left. At this point all I have to occupy my time is:

Wait for my pins that I ordered to come in the mail
Pay off my final $200 that I owe (TOMORROW!)
Wait for my trip package from Disney
Try to change my dining reservations for 9/29 - MNSSHP!
Wait for my DH's new sandals to get here
Wait for the beach towels I ordered to come
Wait for my $50 disney shopping reward to come so I can spend more!
Wait for the $25 Disney gift card that I just cashed out for at SR
Wait for Netflix to credit so I can get $20 more!
Wait for the swimsuits I ordered through disney shopping to actually get here (ordered 7/3 and they keep messing up!)
KEEP READING THESE BOARDS TO MAKE SURE I'M NOT MISSING OUT ON ANYTHING!

Any suggestions to occupy my time in the meantime???? I am not feeling productive!

What are you doing/waiting on that is occupying your time???

Omigosh! We must be TWINS! I feel the same way...I go to bed thinking about our trip and I wake up thinking about our trip. I feel like I am wasting my summer away wishing it was October already! I have no good suggestions as how to get your mind off it...or I would be doing it too! I have my daughter's 1st Birthday coming up in less than 2 weeks...and we are going to Chicago for a kids concert...but September is going to be HORRIBLE! Nothing going on! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm amazed I have over 400+ posts and I only joined in April! I am soooo addicted to the DIS...what will I do when the trip is over....

I'm right here with you...sorry I'm not a help.

YEAH! Disney just called and Airtran moved our flight from 3:xxPM to 4:xxPM and I was really disappointed, but then I asked her if there was an earlier flight and there is! It's at 7AM so we get to Disney over 6 hours earlier! And, we stop in Atlanta (we don't have to change planes) so my kids (first flight for them both) will get two takeoffs in the plane on the way down! I can see us all sitting at the pool now :beach: ...now I will have to call and work on changing our WCC dinner ressie to earlier!

Mommy*RN - glad to know I'm not the only one! DH thinks I'm crazy! I just called him freaking out and he tries to sound excited like I am, but I can tell he thinks I'm wacko :rolleyes1 We are going the last week in September - when are you going? I feel like I'm wishing the summer away, but I can't help it! Oh, another thing to add to my list:

Add more pages to autograph books of characters that we have a 5% chance of meeting :)

I'm hopeless!

The wait is the worst part. I just got back in June and I already can't wait for my New Years trip. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

We're all in this together! Have you woke up after dreaming about being at WDW, only you weren't with your family, you were with folks from The Dis?!?!?!?! :rolleyes1 Usually I dream about going with my family - shhhh...don't tell them they weren't there. I must stop reading this board before I go to bed!

I'm kind of glad we have over 3 months left because if I were a short-timer like OP I'd be bouncing off the walls! BTW - I read, read and read some more on the Dis to pass time. Sorry, no suggestions to help you. Is your stamina up to the WDW level? You could go on nice loooong walks, lots of benefits there.

My family is soooo tired of hearing me talk about our trip. DH has been working out of town since April, I look at our upcoming trip as our family reunion because he should be coming home then! :cloud9:

Ah yes...here I am...back on the DIS :surfweb: when I should be doing dishes, or laundry :laundy: or anything to make my house less of a sty than it already is... :rolleyes1

My DH doesn't get excited about ANYTHING! Of course - maybe he will get PO'd when he finds out I booked the "Princess" character dining breakfast at Akershus. :scared1: HA...serves him right! Thankfully I have you guys to help me maintain my "hyped" :hyper: status about the trip.

Here's to the wait! :drinking1

BTW - we aren't leaving till 10/16...but then it is 11 days/10 nights of DISNEY!

Okay, I am so excited I have my SIL coming over to go over our details. She is going in Oct. and I am going in Aug.(end). :cheer2: This is too exciting for me. I love and live to make shirts to go to Disney. They are all made and I am ready to go NOW!!!!!!! :bounce: I have stuff packed in the suitcases too and can't wait till I can get it altogether again to double check it. SIL bought me some cool palmolive wipes too. :car: I think we all get excited. DH is just as bad. He is on the countdown too. I think our DD's think we both are crazy. Small world, hey? :jumping1: :jumping1:

Well, count me in!!! I am on here every single day, at least 3 or 4 times. We aren't going until September 16, and I too, feel like I have wished the summer away.

My boys start back to school on Tuesday (August 1) and that will help pass the time a little bit. I am a substitute teacher and I already have 5 days scheduled in August, so that will help as well.

I keep thinking I could go ahead and pack, but no, we are wearing the clothes, so I won't be able to pack until the day before. I have started a list on what to pack and what I need to pick up before we go.

Hmmm, I guess I will continue to stay on the DIS, so I can keep up the excitement!!! Thanks from me too, for helping me. My DH gets tired of me talking about WDW, so at least I know I can talk about it to my little heart's desire on the DIS!!!! :thumbsup2

I'm not leaving until January and I'm starting to make lists of everything to pack, etc :)

I have a bag full of trinkets for the kids- the light spin things that I got when they were on clearance, Disney shirts, etc.

Right now, though, I'm just driving my DH crazy with our ADRs and where to go on each day -- he thinks I'm nuts.
Glad to know I'm not the only one, though!

Count me in as well .

I stopped at the house for lunch today and as I was leaving the Maillady brought me some wonderful gifts.

2 different pins sets ( Many keepers but some traders ) for Dd and a few for Me.And another car for DD's train .

I just started our next trip and still trying to do a quick Oct trip.

School has got to get it together and get out a calender.

I did just download the NEW Disney screensaver and it's great shows pics of all the attractions and Tink flying the Priates ship shooting cannon balls all while playing some nice tunes.

How delightful to read this and know I am not alone, holding my eyeballs open to read about and plan to plan about WDW. And smile and laugh, especially at myself! My husband thinks I am insane also -- I can't talk to him about WDW anymore, so he won't know how crazy I really am. I am also wishing the summer away, and thinking we should have scheduled our trip earlier, but then it would already be over!!

Anyway, to help feed and yet keep the obsession in check, I have been working on making autograph books. There are some great tips on the DIS design boards -- very inspiring. Then when you get home, you can tear them apart, scrapbook them and start all over for the next trip that is scheduled much too far in the future.

mjhd -- I have to ask, what are ya'll wearing, or did you pack a new Disney inspired wardrobe???

Anyway, thanks for the laugh/maniacal giggle.

So glad to find this thread. I can cancel the appt. with a therapist now! :rotfl2: We are heading to Disney on 9/30. (63 days to go!) I try to get online a few times throughout the day to check the dis - have to be sure I am not missing any details. My DH thinks I am addicted - (okay, so he is a smart man.) I just got my Disney Visa bill - and shhhhhhhh... don't tell DH.... but I realize that I placed five orders in the past five weeks! Oooops. Darn those Disneyshopping.com people for sending me the sale alerts!!! It is just that we NEED so much stuff for our trip - he just doesn't understand. :confused3 I have purchased our ziplock bags to pack - and have set aside the new Disney attire that no one is wearing until our trip (or they will be in trouble with me) - I go to the Disney site to punch in our next possible trip dates to get prices (cause we have to have another trip coming up to look forward to or - the after-trip, when-will-we-be-able-to-go-again, that-trip-seemed-too-short, darn-that's-the-end blues will kick in, if not.) The w-a-i-t-i-n-g is the hardest part. I agree wholeheartedly.

We arrive on 9/29 and besides going over our schedule on a daily basis and then calling and changing our ADRS about a million times I'm just wishing that the summer would hurry up and be done already!
I've also started packing. The kids all have brand new outfits that they may not even BREATHE on before the trip. They are all washed and tucked safely in their labeled zip loc baggie...Today I went to the mall and picked up more clothes for them and wristbands to write in permanent marker their vital info in case they try and run away from us...at least their new families will know their name :rotfl:
We also have a box of misc. disney stuff in our room. I check and recheck it to see if I need to get anything else.
Our mailman must know something else because I never had so many packages delivered to our house until now.. :confused3
DH is just as bad, he is in control of the countdown on our refrig. Each week he lists new characters that we will get to see when we are down there.
And nightly, we both sit at the computer and read the DIS boards.
I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow night, I'm going out drinking with my best friend and will miss the nightly readings...oh well, liquor can replace that for one night I suppose :teeth:
Oldest son starts school in September and I have a feeling August is going to draggggggg on by.
:hourglass

It's so fun to read everyone's responses - glad I'm not the only one! I don't know why I'm more excited than the kids - maybe it's because my parents never took me to WDW??? And I get really excited over planning vacations in general - again, maybe it's because we never really took vacations when I was a kid. I really need to become a psychiatrist so I can analyze myself!

Well, I think we'll be able to go back in February and take a mini-trip as DH is going on a snowmobiling trip with his friends so it will be just the kids and I. We will be staying with a friend in Orlando and probably spend one full day at WDW and one day at Discovery Cove as she used to work there so can get us free tickets. I didn't think it would be that fun, but I read the DC board here and it sounds like a blast! Now, if only I can get DH to commit to the dates so I can start planning....

Perditamarie - well, our wardrobe started out simple - I had ordered a few of the Disney t's from disneyshopping, then Disney Store had a great sale so I bought some t's and shorts for the kids, then Old Navy had a big sale, so I came back after 4 trips with 4 overflowing bags! Somehow we all now have brand new shorts/shirts & the kids have new pj pals for the trip. I have no idea how this happened :rolleyes1 ! The good part is that my kids are just growing into a new size this year so they have been wearing their old clothes all summer, they can wear these to WDW in September & February and they should still fit and be in new condition for next summer. You see how easy it is to justify shopping LOL! Oh, and I justify it to DH by saying that I've spent less on clothes than what we will be saving by using the free dining plan! He actually agreed!

Next Saturday is our 50 days til Disney countdown so we are having a little party as suggested by someone on the boards. We will be making MM rice krispy treats (had shaped), MM cookies (I have some cookie cutters), and we will be playing Disney Monopoly and watching Disney movies. We will also be finalizing the characters for the autograph books if I haven't gotten to that by then. Any other suggestions? Oh, and I think we're making a run to the mall to exchange DD's b-day money into Disney Dollars.

I'm sure I will be posting again soon! I look forward to reading your replies :)

HI All!

WOW! This thread is right up my alley..I am patiently (yeah right!) waiting for our trip on 9/29. That's when we head out for the drive to the Mouse House. I have gathered some of the 'required packing items' for a Disney trip :

ziplocs (but not packed yet,we need the clothes!)
door hanger
little games for boys to stay occupied while waiting places
hand sanitizer
baby wipes
small hamper for clothes
small baggie of detergent/$
m&m containers with quarters/pennies for pressing
and more but I would have to dig to find it.

Biggest thing for me and it is making me whacko  ~
My boys have NO IDEA we are going in 62 days!!!!! It is their first trip and it will be for their birthdays (see siggie below). :cool1: (also our 10th anniv. where we honeymooned :cloud9: )
We are going to tell them a couple of weeks before we go b/c we want their excitement to build and really get to see what they are going to do but NOT everything will be spilled. The character meals, Halloween party and the pirate: cruise will all be a secret until it happens. :rolleyes1

I am trying to find a fun way to tell them. I got personalized shirts that say happy birthday!...Family's first DW trip...October 2006. Have these treasure boxes I scored that i want to fill with Disney goodies (been gathering those too) and have the shirt at the bottom. Not sure if I want to do a scavenger hunt or just a sit down surprise :scratchin

If anyone has ever surprised the kiddos just a little bit before or with some cool way, would love ideas.

Ok sorry so long..off to read and plan more! Thanks!

We are not going until Feb. We will all be going for the first time. DH, DD and myself with grandson that will be turning 3 the last day of our trip. I can't get enough of the forums. I am trying to get as prepared as possible.

Mom2BoysStx - I couldn't bear not to share my excitement with the kids - I don't know how you're doing it! I am trying to keep our Feb trip a surprise, but we'll see how long that lasts. The treasure chests sound so fun! We just had my son's bday at the park and had a treasure hunt (he turned 6) and the kids LOVED it! It was the highlight of the party - so I would definitely go with a treasure hunt with clues, etc.

I am SO excited for the Halloween party! I am going downstairs later to go through our 10 boxes of Halloween stuff to see if we have t-shirts for DH & I since we don't want to dress up. The kids already have their costumes thanks to the Party City $5 sale someone posted on the budget board (DS is going as a power ranger & dd is going as Tinkerbell - we got her a Barbie Swan Lake costume that looks incredibly similar to Tink - anyone have any suggestions on dressing it up a bit?). Did I mention I LOVE candy so am really looking forward to being able to trick or treat! The only problem I foresee is having to bring another suitcase for all of the candy to come home with us LOL! I wouldn't want to put our others over 50 lbs!

Anyone have the details on the princesses & pirates party in Feb? That sounds like it might be fun to do while we're there. Talk to you all soon!

That happened to us once -very cool. I was hoping it would happen again last year since our flight was due in at 1am, but no such luck. :(

I am in the same boat...except my trip isn't until January 2008! :rotfl:
I am constantly camped in front of the computer putting together budgets and itineraries. Today, I even started "The Box". I figured if I start buying the non-perishables when they are on sale, then I don't have to "budget" for them later. By packing away laundry detergent, toothpaste and other toiletries, I won't have one big purchase to make right before the trip. Then, as we get a little closer, I will start to add the non-perishable food. It's craziness, but all the planning makes it feel so much closer than it really is.
