If I know my family NO one will decided about the dining plan until the every last moment :headache:, I mean as we are checking into the Resort.

I can't get anyone to agree to this ahead of time and it's driving me nuts.
But can this be done??, can you add this when checking in???.

I hope you all have a great Memorial Holiday Weekend !

No, you can't. You have to have it booked 2 or 3 days ahead of the time you check in.

Since OPs family can't even decide on whether to get the DP, could they even decide what ADRs to make at 180 days? Even if you could buy the DP at check in, if ADRs weren't made already you would have very slim pickings for ADRs and not likely to get the ones you would need to make the DP worth the expense. For many people, DP is a convenience but not a money saver.

Reservations could already be made regardless of participation in the DDP or not.

Yes, I know. I should have added, since the OP's family can't even decide whether to use the DP plan or not, odds are they can't decide on other things, like where to eat 180 days in advance. I'll edit my original post. Thanks for pointing this out.

As PP said, you CANNOT add it at check-in. It must be done 72 hrs before arrival.

I'm with piccolopat, the DDP is the least of your worries. How are you going to get them to decide where they want to eat, where they want to go, what they want to ride??? Sounds like you need an army sergeant to get them whipped into shape. :yay:

JUst because the family can't decide on ADR's doesn't mean the OP didn't make them anyway. If I waited for my family to weigh in on what to do on vacation, we would be staycationing. But making a decision about a dining plan is more about money than what you want to do. I would want more input.

Do you know why there is disagreement? Is it cost, amount of food, or a combination of both? The DDP is nto for everyone, and as much as it works for my family, it is a disaster for others.

It seems to me that in this decision there needs to be concensus because it can be an expensive mistake or a decent win. I think that if there is no concensus you will not go wrong if you take the money the plan costs and just put it on gift cards. Use them as your DDP and pay as you go.

Are you traveling with all adults that everyone has a say on getting the plan or not?

If you do get the plan everyone needs to realize that means being pretty scheduled on the trip. If you don't use a dining credit, that is money wasted, so you will want to pre-plan quite a few meals. Or it means being very very very flexible with where and when you eat. As in, you are in the Magic Kingdom and want dinner, but have to go elsewhere as all the table service restaurants in the Magic Kingdom are booked.

Forget the dining plan. It likely won't save your group any money, as it requires adherance to a certain way of eating to break even, let alone save. With this unwieldy group, that adherance seems unlikely to happen. Just budget for meals & have that spending money ready.

Keep an open mind, and you might even discover that you prefer paying out-of-pocket for food, once you've tried it.
