So, we put in an offer today at about 3:00 and we haven't heard anything back yet.
This SHORT wait has me realizing that we will have a lot of waiting ahead of us if this offer is accepted! I better get used to it, huh?
When you buy direct you wait for the paperwork.
Then you wait for your membership number.
Then you wait for the deed papers.
Then you wait for the 10 day rescission period.
Then you wait for online access.
Yep only difference is no ROFR!
You guys are getting depressing. But I can play the game:
After you wait for your membership, you wait for
the eleven month window,
the seven month window
180 days for ADRs
a week off of work
affordable airfare
check in time at 4pm
and finally you wait in lines to go on the rides you love.
But in the end, it's the happiest place on Earth and we are all so fortunate to be able to enjoy this membership. So many people can not and can't even afford to go to one of the parks for one day. So it will be well worth the wait.........
In my experience I bought direct 460 points and I was making reservations the same day it was amazing!!!![]()
At this point I really think you should check the accuracy of your posts before you hit "submit". Some of the things you are saying on these boards are patently false.
OP here...
I am assuming that we will hear about our offer today...I was prepared for the process to take about 8 weeks (is that right?) just didn't anticipate not hearing a counter-offer or if it was accepted for a day.
I am sure this is just an example of...I should always be prepared that things might take a little longer than anticipated.
Slightly off topic...the contract we made an offer on has points that we would need to bank by (I think) July 1. I am hoping that if all goes well with this deal, that would give us enough time. BUT, what happens if you need to bank points and the deal is not done yet? Can the current owner bank for you?
thx
I've made a few offers lately. I just want to warn you that on a few, I didn't hear back at all. Was told the offer would be presented that day, then nothing.
On the offer we finally had accepted, we asked to have the points banked. The sellers did.
Thanks for the info. Just checking in with the resale company and was told they presented the offer and that they will think about it and let us know at some point tomorrow. Seems strangee since it was a full price offer. I am already not loving the communication from this place (not sure if I can say where) since I had to get back in touch with them.
Surprising to me that you did not hear back at all on some of them!
What did I get wrong?
You suggested that buying direct also has a lot of waiting, just not for ROFR. But if you read the boards here, many, many owners talk about signing their contracts and making reservations the very next day. In fact, the lack of waiting is one of the primary benefits of buying direct.
So there is actually no comparison between direct and resale when it comes to wait times. That's what you got wrong.

I think I will be able to handle the waiting ok from here on out. I really am a very patient person (typically!). But, we shall see![]()
