Waiting time for room after check-in

I don't know if I have a legitimate complaint or not, but I know I have a problem with the wait time to get a room after checking in at OKW.

We arrived at 5:00 AM on our first day. We knew we couldn't check-in until 7:00am but we went to the front desk hoping we could get a room on cash right away so that we could get some rest after driving for 15 hours.

No rooms were available, so we left, found a room on Hotel Blvd. At 7:00am my DH was at OKW to register and was told to call later to check to see if room was ready. We had the hotel room until noon, so we were able to get some sleep and spent several hours at Downtown Disney. We never got our room at OKW until 6:00 Pm.

Three days later, we were moving from that 1 bedroom to a Grand Villa. We went over the night before checking out to see if we could have use of the room until the GV was ready, but the answer was no. We had to be out of the 1 bedroom by 11:00. Again we registered at 7:00 am for the GV move, again we didn't get in until after 6:00 PM.

I know the policy is room will be ready after 4:00PM, but it just seems to me that if you're staying at the same resort and only changing rooms, that some accomodations could be made.

But remember, allowing you to stay in your 1 bedroom until your GV was ready would make it very difficult for the guest checking into your 1 bedroom... If you left at 6pm when the GV was ready, when would they get into the one bedroom!!

Check in time is 4 pm. How are they going to get the room ready for the next guess if everyone stays over?

We were just planning our upcoming trip and since we live in Seattle, it's an all day flight. We decided to try an red eye for a change. The same concerns were for us, arriving at 7am and we didn't even want to try playing the waiting game after being up all night. The solution for us, was to book our room for the night before arriving so we're assured we'll have a room when we arrive. Waste of points? I'm sure, but on the other hand, the points are well worth it vs waiting all day to get into our room. I AM going to let the front desk know myself that we will not be arriving til 730am the following morning so there are no mistakes!

My guess would be some folks may have stayed right up to the 11am check-out time, and Housekeeping may have had a busy day (maybe everyone didn't leave untill 11am). If as described by Doc's note from the annual meeting, the housekeepers are responsible for 16 rooms, to have all the rooms ready at 4, that is allowing 5 hours for 16 rooms, or less than 20 minutes to clean each room. If guests all leave at 11am, or if some rooms are left in a particularly messy condition, there is no way to service all those rooms in the time alloted.

We left at 9am, and the housekeepers were just starting, and were entering our room as we got into the car, so someone had a studio in a timely manner at OKW on Nov. 15th.

I would make sure they understand what you are doing because otherwise, they may make you a "no show" and not have a room for you at all. I agree that is the way to go if you are flying all night.

I wondered about and asked MS about that as I was making the ressie. She told me that since it's considered 'prepaid' it sits empty!!! I think not!!
You better believe I'll be making sure my room isn't given to anyone!!
Can you imagine that one after traveling all night long????
