We are scheduled for our home SSR on 12/7 - 12/13/08, and have put ourselves on the waiting list for the the Beach Club. Has anyone ever had luck getting changed this way?
Thanks!

I have waitlisted four times and got our waitlist three times...The other time our waitlist expired at the seven days before then I called each day to see if something that we wanted openned up...Two days before we arrived I called "one last time" in hopes that we could switch our resort and sure enough something did open up...I was able to do this without a problem because I was not using the magical express...I did not "lose" any points because the new reservation actually took a few more points...It all worked out the way we wanted....

So the answer to your question is YES, we have had luck!

Good luck to you :goodvibes

When did you get on the waitlist? There are many, many members waitlisting for just about all of December.

I would expect NOT to get your waitlist for Beach Club, but there is a small chance of getting it.
Good Luck!

Is there another way of checking if the waitlist came through other than calling MS?

If you have a reservation, and are "waitlisted" for another date for example, I understand that once the "waitlist" comes through the points will automatically be changed and the first reservation cancelled...That of course becomes problematic for booking airline...Its a sort of "wait and see" I guess.
If you are far enough out, then at some point you make a decision to take yourself off waitlist and go with original reservation..

MS told me if you are waitlisted for a property "far out" they just mail the new confirmation which alerts you to the change...Don't you think an e mail is more expedient to the member?

Thanks for any insight on waitlist procedures!:goodvibes :goodvibes

The change will show up at the member website as soon as it is confirmed...You can check your membership information at the end of each business day to see if your waitlist came through...But yes, there is no email confirmation...It is a good idea though.

I tried a last minute waitlist, didn't expect it to come through, I think we are lucky to even get our home resort with such short notice! We will be back at SSR in November for 12 days, so figured we would try something different if it was available for this short trip. Guess we won't now....:rolleyes1

We had a reservation for a 1 bdrm at SSR for Nov 29 - Dec 8. I waitlisted several months ago for a 1 bdrm at VWL for Dec 4 -8. Our waitlist came thru last week. We still have not received a confirmation on this by mail. It is showing up on the member website tho. I called member services and they did confirm it also.
