We should close on our DVC in the next 2 weeks. 250 points at BCV. We will be arriving at WDW on June 7th for 6 nights.
We realize there might not be any DVC units availiable when we get our membership number and call. My question is this> If we go on a waiting list do we need to identify a specific property that we want or can we just ask them to let us know if anything opens with a 1 bedroom or larger. I guess if nothing opens we can stay at a nice WDW resort with our 250 points. Is that correct.
Thanks Dennis

I would call member services right away and tell them what you want to do - maybe they can arrange it now. You can also ask them your waitlist questions and get the info right from the horse's mouth. You need to know that it takes alot more points to stay in one of the non DVC resorts. It used to be a reasonable amount but they changed it and now I think it is outrageous!

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome home :)

If there is a problem w/availability, you can waitlist for all resorts and for studios, 1 bedrooms, 2 bedrooms and grand villas at every single one of them if you wish!

Yes, you can stay at the regular resorts w/your points, but it is not a good use of your points. You would be better off banking them or renting them out to pay cash for your room. I am leary of renting my points out, so I would save them and make a special trip next time I went :) If you have or will have AP's you may be able to get a fantastic cash rate that will make paying cash not so bad. I think if you waitlist day-by-day (if you even need to waitlist at all), you should get a reservation somewhere :)

I assume you are purchasing via resale since it is BCV that you are buying, so you will be in the DVC system 1-3 days after closing. You do NOT need a member number to call and make reservations. As soon as you are in the system, MS can locate you and book reservations. I would call MS 2 days after closing and see if you are in there yet. They will look you up using your name and SSN.

If by chance you purchased direct from Disney, you may call and make reservations before closing, so if you did purchase direct from Disney call now for your reservations :)

Best of luck to you! I hope you get your reservation :)

Thank you for the information. We reserved a 1 bedroom at WLV for cash just in case things don't open up when we close.
It is nice to know that you don't need to be put on a waiting list for only one resort at a time. Thanks Dennis
