Waiting List is Bogus?

In my case, my waitlist is just one day to add to an existing reservation, so should be satisfied in all of your scenarios, correct

Nevertheless, I think we should take bets: will I find it stalking before my waitlist comes through?

Well, if you get it by stalking, before you cancel the waitlist, call to see if you have the match, but it wasn’t processed.

Regardless, I hope you get it one way or the other!

I have yet to figure out their system. Sometimes when you cancel a reservation, it immediately is released back into inventory for stalkers to pick up and sometimes it isn’t. I just assumed the waitlist picks it up if it isn’t released back into inventory.

Just because you don’t like how something works or doesn’t work how you *think* something should work, doesn’t mean it’s broken.

One ‘cheap and easy’ thing they could do is not systematically release a room back into inventory until the system has had a chance to run the match process..

I think the system does that more than we think. I have made adjustments and some rooms show up instantly and other do not.

I have made changes within 5 minutes of each other, and same thing…some rooms went back and some did not.

There is no way that I am catching the system running its check every single time those rooms don’t come back. I do it too often to simply catch it if it isn’t that frequent.

I've waitlisted while simultaneously stalking too many times to count over the years. I've had much more success stalking than the waitlist. In fact, this morning I switched to BRV from SSR for one of our trips coming up the end of May. After securing the new room I looked again and there was no vacancy at BRV in my room category for those dates.

I'm actually 2 for 2 on the waitlist, with the most recent having a Beach Club wait list come through for our stay in a few weeks. Booked at 7 months and about 4.5 months later the waitlist hit switching us from Boulder Ridge to Beach Club.

I’m 2 for 2 as well. Both were confirmed to be matched when talking to member services (1 on the phone and the other via chat).

Why should we have to call?
You don’t have to and I assume it would have come through normal means had I not, but also have seen it suggested that sometimes cast members may “find” that your reservation has matched when you contact them, as was the case for me.

Okay-and you checked availability before you called?

Why should we have to call?

People will call to check because the website has no way of showing if it’s there but waiting to be processed.

Sometimes it can take a few days for that to happen. It’s one reason to never cancel one before at least checking.

That is the one thing I would love to see as an update..a waitlist that says pending.

This has been my experience as well. My thoughts are that it only catches the first match and releases extra days even though people are waiting for them. I really wish they would fix this.

I just had a waitlist fill for one night preferred one bedroom at riviera. I do have 3 nights in a standard one bedroom at riviera that has not filled. I think it’s much more likely to get a single night.

I had been stalking constantly and this one night never popped up as available.

I've had two waitlists in the past, and I didn't stalk either one because we would have been happy to stay where we had booked if they didn't fill. Both WL did fill.

That is a good theory but I do like the system the way that it is!

Fwiw, I just snagged a 1BR for my extra night this morning from availability. Never heard anything from my waitlist

People that are on a HH FB group are telling me that they’ve always had more success with stalking reservations than waitlisting. And, if my desired villa opens up, since it’s not automatic, the stalker may actually grab it before the DVC agent does?
Can you either confirm or deny?

Ill admit Im an obsessive stalker but 9/10 times I grab my own spot before the waitlist comes through. I assume the process updates over night, or at least at a specific time. But Im not sure.

We are 100% 7 month bookers, so I stalk A LOT. What I don't know, and the reason I stalk instead of letting the system do its job on waitlists, is Im not sure if Im grabbing a spot that would have gone to an earlier waitlisted owner? Thereby jumping the line. Or am I simply given myself a reservation that would have been given to me anyway in the next 24 hours? Since Disney IT is way less than advanced I feel like its the latter, so I stalk.

It would be great if all waitlists were filled before a room show as opened, but from my obsessive stalking, I know thats almost always NOT the case.

Did you cancel the waitlist and see if a room showed up? It did for me just yesterday…I had a waitlist for next week for March 8th…checked and it was there…changed my night, and checked again.

The BLT I gave up was not there…waitlist had to grab…and neither was the room I booked at RIV so I had to get the last one,

Had to chat to get things merged since the 9th and 10th were the same RIV room and cancel the waitlist. She confirmed I had had the match so the one I got by stalking was different.

Its why I don’t mind the system….other than not having a notification it’s matched but waiting…because at least I can try!

ETA: After the CM canceled the waitlist, I went back and that room was there!
